For the past two hours, I have been perusing Pinterest, clicking on links, and reading blog posts by other bloggers about fashion, beauty rituals, Coachella, as well as watching a few DIY and “how-to” videos. But for the past 30 minutes, I have been reading other blogger’s “101 things in 1001 days lists.” I thought to myself, “What a cool idea!” Who inspired me to do this list? It was two bloggers… first was Kate from Kate The Almost Great, and she pointed me in the direction of Mackenzie Horan at Design Darling, who put together her first list together in 2011. This list, like Mackenzie says, […]
My Day Job vs My Passion
I have a day job, and I really enjoy it. I work as a Registered Medical Assistant in a thriving surgical practice and I really love what I do and I love the people with whom I work. I am always in a great mood when I arrive at the office, because I believe that your attitude when you walk through the door will set the tone for the day. Like the quote says, “Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.” And I believe that because I like what I do gives me the freedom […]
When I Grow Up…
You can ask my mother about this, but when I was younger, I would always say that I wanted to be the next Barbara Walters. I would pretend I was a television newswoman, staring at my reflection in the microwave oven door, reading the news stories I had written. Then when I was about 16 years old, I began writing. I had such a good time with that blog post that I thought I’d share 25 more random facts about myself. So here they are… 1. I have started several screenplays, but have only finished one. 2. I am a Facebook friend with Derek Hass, one half of the dynamic duo who developed the NBC hits Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. 3. I really only joined Twitter to promote my blog (@vannadee37). I rarely peruse Twitter, but I appreciate […]
Fashion Icon: Gisele Bundchen
Supermodel. Super Mom. Footballer’s Wife. Victoria’s Secret Model. Actress. Goodwill Ambassador. And she retired at the top of her game. In one word… Gisele. This Brazilian model pioneered the “horse walk”, and has been labeled by other “supermodels” to be the “only remaining true supermodel.” She has acted in only two films that I know of – Taxi, starring Queen Latifa and Jimmy Fallon, and The Devil Wears Prada, starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. She has been listed as the highest paid model since 2004. In 1998, Gisele was called “the Body” by the great late fashion designer Alexander […]
