“I hope she’ll be a fool – that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.” -Daisy Buchanan, The Great Gatsby “I knew it was a great mistake for a man like me to fall in love…” -Jay Gatsby, The Great Gatsby Photo Source: Rotten Tomatoes The grandeur of The Great Gatsby is captured beautifully by director Baz Luhrmann, with all the glitz and glam of an era where there was a stark contrast between elegance and poverty. For What It’s Worth
Photo Credit: Pinterest / Photo Source: lilblueboo.com Last year I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt. It was such a good movie that when I found this photo on Pinterest, I had to smile. If you haven’t watched this movie, I encourage you to do so. Yes, it is a little on the long side, but if you can sit through almost three hours of Les Miserables or almost 2-1/2 hours of The Great Gatsby, then you can sit through this movie. So, it’s never too late to be whoever you want… and the neat thing […]
Movie Review: “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”
Last week, I turned down the lights, slipped a DVD into the player and watched with intrigue how seven seniors “outsourced” their retirement to a resort in India. What movie did I watch, you ask? The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starring Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Deb Patel, Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, Ronald Pickup, and Celia Imrie. Based on Deborah Moggach’s novel, These Foolish Things, this movie was heart-warming, funny, and touching. The screenplay was written by Ol Parker, and the movie was directed by John Madden, who also directed Shakespeare in Love. “Hit & Run” is a Fun Ride
I’m not the kind of girl who is into car chase movies, but Dax Shepard’s Hit & Run was an exception. Photo Credit: IMDb Dax wrote, directed, and starred in this “car chase”/”road trip” action romantic comedy. And I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this movie as much as I did, and even my husband thought it was a good movie. Of course, he also liked the car that Dax drove, because like Dax, my husband is a “car guy.” Here is a brief description of the movie: “Former getaway driver Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard) jeopardizes his Witness Protection Plan […]
My Week in Pins: Nat’l Bird Feeding Month
Did anyone know that February is National Bird Feeding Month? I sure didn’t. Birds are lovely creatures. Some sing sweet little tunes; some mimic words or phrases; some are little; some are big; some have long beaks; some have short beaks; some have long legs; some have short legs… you see where I’m going with this? For example, we have this beautiful cardinal that visits our house and flaps itself silly against the mirrors of our vehicles parked in the driveway. I have blogged about this beautiful, yet annoying, cardinal before (you can find that post in my archives), and […]
