Actress, Humanitarian, Survivor – Angelina Jolie

‘Love one person, take care of them until you die. You know, raise kids. Have a good life. Be a good friend. And try to be completely who you are. And figure out what you personally love. And like go after it with everything you’ve got no matter how much it takes.” – Angelina Jolie Photo Source: thewellnesschoicecenter.com Angelina Jolie has gotten a bad rap over the years, especially since becoming involved with Brad Pitt shortly after their movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. You can be “Team Aniston” or “Team Jolie”, but which ever side you’re on, you’ve got to admit […]

For What It’s Worth

Photo Credit: Pinterest / Photo Source: lilblueboo.com Last year I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt. It was such a good movie that when I found this photo on Pinterest, I had to smile. If you haven’t watched this movie, I encourage you to do so. Yes, it is a little on the long side, but if you can sit through almost three hours of Les Miserables or almost 2-1/2 hours of The Great Gatsby, then you can sit through this movie. Movie Review: “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”

Last week, I turned down the lights, slipped a DVD into the player and watched with intrigue how seven seniors “outsourced” their retirement to a resort in India. What movie did I watch, you ask? The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starring Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Deb Patel, Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, Ronald Pickup, and Celia Imrie. Based on Deborah Moggach’s novel, These Foolish Things, this movie was heart-warming, funny, and touching. The screenplay was written by Ol Parker, and the movie was directed by John Madden, who also directed Shakespeare in Love. When I’m writing, whether I’m writing on this blog or working on a short story or a script, I have to have music or the TV going on in the background. Sometimes when I hear a particular song, I can tell someone exactly where I was and what I was doing when that song was playing. Or there are songs that evoke a certain memory and I think, “Wow, this song belongs on the soundtrack of my life!” Then there are those songs that just make me move, and by move, I mean tap my foot, shake my booty, clap […]

“Hit & Run” is a Fun Ride

I’m not the kind of girl who is into car chase movies, but Dax Shepard’s Hit & Run was an exception. Photo Credit: IMDb Dax wrote, directed, and starred in this “car chase”/”road trip” action romantic comedy. And I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this movie as much as I did, and even my husband thought it was a good movie. Of course, he also liked the car that Dax drove, because like Dax, my husband is a “car guy.” Here is a brief description of the movie: “Former getaway driver Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard)  jeopardizes his Witness Protection Plan […]
