Earlier this year, I became a Mogul Influencer/Global Ambassador for Mogul, “an award-winning technology platform that enables women worldwide to share ideas, solicit advice, and access content based on their personal interests.” I was invited to be a part of this platform about four months ago, through my connection with the BlogHer 16 Conference. Earlier this month, I was invited by Bethany Heinrich, VP of Content & Community for Mogul, to participate in an exciting campaign and movement at Mogul called #DayintheLife. So here’s my profile for the #DayintheLife campaign. Name: Vanessa Wood Age: 43 Home city/ country: Knoxville, Tenn., […]
My Love of Fall and October
October is my favorite month of the year, mainly because it is the month I got married, but also because the weather is crisp and cool and the landscape changes from lush and green to reds, golds, and browns. This is the season when I can I start to pull out my sweaters and scarves and boots and dress in layers. Also, I get to cook hot meals and plan festive get-togethers with friends. Since there are 31 days in the month of October, I’ve put together a showcase of 20+ great ideas for meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), beautiful fashion ideas, and […]
Men of Style: Emmys Edition
The Emmys wrapped up on Sunday night and there were winners and losers. All I was watching were the sexy men who walked the Red Carpet. Here are some of my favorite men’s looks that walked the Red Carpet. Aziz Ansari (Master of None) rocked the Red Carpet a little more casual than most, but this look worked for me. It was casual, yet so Aziz! I love that Liev Screiber (Ray Donovan) brought his son, Alexander, as his plus-one. This father-son duo was adorable. And who could resist Jon Snow, a.k.a. Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), who was looking so sexy on […]
10 Books to Read this Fall
I’m a big book nerd! I love books! I love opening a book and smelling the pages. Nowadays, I’m listening to more books that I’m actually reading, but that’s okay. Also, I love discovering new authors, and when I do, I have to read or listen to everything I can get my hands on. I visit my local library every couple of weeks and check out a new audiobook. Lately, I’ve been listening to Jo Nesbo’s books, The Snowman and The Leopard, both of which are a part of “The Harry Hole Series.” My local library doesn’t have the whole series, […]
Vanity Ideas for Small Spaces
I am still in the process of turning a small bedroom into my dressing room, and I’ve been looking at ideas for my vanity. I don’t have much room in my small dressing room, and I am thinking of turning my antique desk into my vanity. But then, where would I put my sewing machine? I do have a small rolling table that I can (and probably will) repaint and then DIY a lighted mirror to replace my small vanity mirror. But in the meantime, I’m having some serious vanity envy. I love all things “Paris”, as if you couldn’t guess since […]
