Remembering Mary Tyler Moore

Mary Tyler Moore passed away earlier this week on January 25th, at the age of 80. She was a thoroughly modern woman in her time and she will be missed. “There are certain things about me that I will never tell to anyone because I am a very private person. But basically what you see is who I am. I’m independent, I do like to be liked, I do look for the good side of life and people. I’m positive, I’m disciplined, I like my life in order, and I’m neat as a pin. I love order and discipline. God, […]

Wanderlust Wednesday: Grand Canyon and Beyond

Growing up in West Texas, I fell in love with the wide open spaces that the West is known for, which is one reason why I have major wanderlust for places near and far. Every summer, my family and I would travel through New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Wyoming to visit my grandparents. My grandma and grandpa Lashlee lived in Utah until they moved to Biloxi, Miss., to live with my parents. My grandma and grandpa Howard lived in Idaho, and then in Wyoming, before retiring to Cleveland, Tenn. On one of our vacations, my parents bought me a souvenir […]

Warm Winter Dress Form Outfit

Dress Form Outfit / www.vanessahwood.com

Today I decided to feature a warm winter outfit on my antique dress form. Wearing a warm winter outfit is key during these first few months of the new year. However, the sweater in this warm winter outfit is light enough so I don’t get too hot when it’s warm outside. My new favorite jeans are the G by Giuliana Luxe Stretch Denim Boyfriend Jeans, available at HSN. Giuliana’s clothes are currently […]

Ever have a case of the Mondays on Sunday afternoon? There are days during the week when I feel so unorganized, but when I sit down on Sunday mornings and plan my week ahead, I feel pretty awesome! A lot of us spend our Saturdays going to the mall, shopping, hanging out with friends, working, or attending various events. We stay up late on Friday and Saturday nights, eating late dinners, going to clubs, going to the movies, or just staying up late to catch the latest episode of Saturday Night Live. But Sundays are for relaxing, am I right? On Sundays, […]

Kidz-Safe First Aid Kit Review + Coupon

Today’s blog post is a slight departure from my normal fashion, beauty, or lifestyle post. I have partnered with KidzStuff® for this post to review their 94-piece Kidz-Safe First Aid Kit. Everyone of us have been to our fair share of baby showers, where mothers-to-be open gifts for the baby from onsies, blankets, and pacifiers to diapers, diaper genies, and strollers. But in all the baby showers I’ve been to, I’ve never seen anyone gift the new parents a first aid kit. As a Medical Assistant, I appreciate the value of a good first aid kit. And even though I don’t have children, I […]
