Dress Form Outfit #21

Memorial Day is less than two weeks away, meaning that everyone will have a long weekend to gather with family and friends for cookouts, parties, and mini-vacations. I think this one-piece short set will make the perfect cookout outfit. It’s shorts, it’s light-weight, and it’s comfortable for standing around in the heat or under a shade tree. I purchased this black one-piece romper at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter Thrift Store in Kitty Hawk, N.C. I paired it with an animal print belt and a long silver necklace. Of course, the outfit wouldn’t be complete without a cute (and comfortable) pair […]

Dress Form Outfit #20

This colorful, silky soft dress (made of 94% polyester and 6% spandex) is another one of my thrift store finds. I purchased it for $4.49 at the Goodwill in Kitty Hawk, N.C. My husband really likes this mini-dress because it skims the body perfectly! I would pair this dress with a light blue/turqouise or a pale yellow cardigan and a sweet pair of like-colored  kitten heels or mules, or a pair of nude heels. This is not a pattern I usually wear, but something about it caught my eye and thankfully it fit (even if it says it’s a size 6). In addition […]

Experimenting with Watercolors

I recently purchased a small sketch pad and a set of watercolors from Hobby Lobby. Since I’m currently not working (and I’m actively searching for a job), I figured I’d try a new “hobby” so I thought I’d try my hand at painting with watercolors. Eisner Award-winning artist and writer Bill Sienkiewicz said, “To me, that’s one of the things that I love about doing this stuff. One day I can work on this piece in watercolor, and then work on something else on the computer, or work on something else that’s a completely different approach.” Sienkiewicz is best known […]

A Peek Inside My Purse

Back in April, I read an article on www.MailOnline.com about how an artist offered six friends and acquanitances 500 Euros to let him display what was in their handbags. (Link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2128216/Artist-offers-women-400-reveal-handbag-new-exhibition-Serpentine-Gallery.html?ITO=1490). If this link doesn’t work, then go to www.MailOnline.com or  www.dailymail.co.uk, and search the site with the phrase: “artist offers women 400 to reveal handbags”. I was so intruiged by this that I decided to display the items in my purse… for free! So take a peek inside my purse… Currently I carry a Louis Vuitton Estrela. At the time the above photo was taken, I had the following items in […]

Dress Form Outfit #19

This blue and white striped boat-neck mini dress was a great find at the Goodwill in Kitty Hawk, NC. It is from the GAP and was $4.59! It is so comfortable and I’ve worn it several times since I brought it home a couple of weeks ago! It has three-quarter length sleeves and hits mid-thigh (I’m 5’8″)… kind of short, but it covers my arse well enough and I know how to bend over like a lady. (I don’t bend over. I squat with my knees together – like a lady should!) Have a fabulous “thrifty” week!
