I’ve watched many a movie about moments in American history. Black Hawk Down. Pearl Harbor. Saving Private Ryan. Band of Brothers. So tonight when I found myself channel surfing, I made the executive decision to watch The Great Raid, which was based on William Breuer’s book of the same name. I was lucky enough to have met Mr. Breuer on several occasions when I was a news reporter in Cleveland, Tenn. Mr. Breuer has written over 30 books, focusing on World War II, the CIA, and the FBI, as well as the Korean War. The Great Raid is about the raid at Cabanatuan where 500 American soilders were […]
Fabulous and Over 40
Wendi McClendon-Covey. Melissa McCarthy. Octavia Spencer. Amy Poehler. Debra Messing. These beautiful women are some of the most incredibly talented and funny women in movies and television today… and they are all fabulous and over 40! They have starred (separately, and sometimes together) in some of my favorite movies and TV shows. Wendi and Melissa co-starred in last summer’s hit Bridesmaids, but I love Wendi as the sexpot in Reno 911! And Melissa was the lovable Sookie in Gilmore Girls. Octavia Spencer won an Oscar for her role in The Help, and she has had many supporting roles in both TV and film. […]
My Week in Pins – Chanel
As most of you already know, I love Chanel! It is almost an obsession, my love of all things Chanel, but until I hit the lottery, I can only drool and pin things to my Chanel “wish list”. All pins are taken from Pinterest, but the original source is cited. My Luscious Life blog featured this fabulous double “C” logo in what I would imagine is an entry way. This logo would be perfect in any Chanel store. I would love to have this logo in my dream closet in my dream home in Colorado! Photo Source: http://mylusciouslife.com The Saved by […]
Wanna Be Fashionista in the Making
At the beginning of last year, one of my first posts was about my being a “wanna be fashionista”, which I still am! (You can read about it here, and I wrote it almost one year ago to the day!) Now I can be a “wanna be fashionista in the making” because I got a sewing machine for Christmas from my husband and my parents! I AM SO EXCITED! Ok… I haven’t actually taken it out of the box yet, but this weekend I have some major plans for that sewing machine… I wanna make a dress! I wanna hem up […]
My Kind of Style
I don’t have Victoria Beckham’s budget for fashion, but like her, I find it’s better to be stylish than to be fashionable. Fashion trends change all the time, but style – true style – never changes! Here are some put-together fashion finds that I’m digging right now. These photos are from Pinterest, but the original source is listed under each photo, but I’d like to say Thank You to Polyvore, Fashion Worship, and The High Heeled Hostess for sharing such awesome and stylish fashion finds! I have been wanting a pair of brown boots and these are gorgeous! I also like the grey cowl-neck sweater! […]
