Dress Form Outfit #19

This blue and white striped boat-neck mini dress was a great find at the Goodwill in Kitty Hawk, NC. It is from the GAP and was $4.59! It is so comfortable and I’ve worn it several times since I brought it home a couple of weeks ago! It has three-quarter length sleeves and hits mid-thigh (I’m 5’8″)… kind of short, but it covers my arse well enough and I know how to bend over like a lady. (I don’t bend over. I squat with my knees together – like a lady should!) Have a fabulous “thrifty” week!

Dress Form Outfit #18

Last week I went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina with my husband.  Neither of us had been there before and luckily we had a few hours one afternoon so we hit up a couple of thrift stores in the Kitty Hawk area. I gave myself a $25 Thrift Store Challenge, meaning I could only spend $25 total at one or more thrift stores. Luckily, I ended up with five great pieces from two different thrift stores. This week’s Dress Form Outfit features one of those fabulous finds! At The Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughter Thrift Store, located in Kitty Hawk, […]

Dress Form Outfit #17

This week’s dress form outfit features a black tank top and a olive green pencil skirt. I don’t think you’d need a necklace since the tank top has an embellished neckline, but feel free to pile on the thin bracelets and a simple pair of gold hoop earrings. To make this a “work appropriate” outfit, slip on a pair of black high heels and a cardigan. To make this outfit work for the weekend, slip on a pair of Tory Burch elastic high wedge espadrilles and toss on a denim jacket! I purchased the H&M olive green pencil skirt at the Unclaimed Baggage Center(http://unclaimedbaggage.com) in Scottoboro, AL. It […]

Dress Form Outfit #16

I spent a few hours yesterday cleaning out my closet and found this dress in the back, tucked between a couple of other dresses. I bought it a couple of years ago at a thrift store, but I’ve never worn it. After I tried it on yesterday, I decided to make it this week’s Dress Form Outfit. I don’t really know what color it is, but I think it looks greyish tan. Because it is a sleeveless shift dress, I paired it a wide elastic belt to give the illusion of a waist. I purchased the belt at Marshall’s in Colorado Springs, CO. […]

Gonna Kick It “Ombré” Style

Several months ago I saw a how-to video on how to turn one yard of material into a drapey vest. It didn’t look that hard, and I figured I could do it myself. So a couple of months ago, I dropped by JoAnn Fabric & Craft store and found a remnant piece of white jersey fabric. It was slightly less than a yard, but I decided I could still make it work for the DIY vest. Knowing that white is hard to keep clean, I decided to dye the material. I didn’t think I wanted to dye the entire piece, […]
