Earlier this year, I read Stieg Larsson’s “The Millennium Trilogy” – The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest. When I say “read”, what I meant was “listened to”, because I checked out the audiobooks from my local library. These audiobooks were read by Simon Vance, who I think was the perfect choice to read these books! For those of you who like to read the book before watching the movie, I strongly suggest you check with your local library to see if they have the audiobooks. You will not […]
A Glimpse Into Her Life
My Week With Marilyn, based on Colin Clark’s memoir of the same name, gave us (the viewers) a glimpse into her life. This movie follows the players in the making of The Prince and The Showgirl, featuring Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe. “Sir Laurence Olivier is making a movie in London. Young Colin Clark, an eager film student, wants to be involved and he navigates himself a job on the set. When film star Marilyn Monroe arrives for the start of shooting, all of London is excited to see the blonde bombshell, while Olivier is struggling to meet her many […]
Dress Form Outfit #36
This week’s dress form outfit is a scarf-style shift dress. I purchased it (as well as another color of this same style dress) from Surf Style in Clearwater Beach, Fla. It is super soft and skims the body perfectly. The belt is not so high that it makes this dress look or feel like an empire waist dress. The simple tie belt hits at what is the smallest part of my midsection – between my belly button and my midriff. I can transition this dress from summer to fall to winter to spring, simply by changing my accessories. Right now, or […]
What I Took From “Glamour’s” Fashion Issue
I’ve written on several occasions about how I take my time reading magazines. First I flip through it page-by-page, just looking at the photographs. Then I go back and literally (and I do mean literally) read it from cover-to-cover. Almost two weeks ago, I got four magazines in the mail and so far, I’ve read only two of them cover-to-cover: People StyleWatch and Glamour. So today I’m going to tell you a little about “what I took from Glamour magazine’s fall fashion issue.” First of all, there were three cover photos of the stunningly beautiful (but not smiling) Victoria Beckham. Here’s my […]
Dress Form Outfit #35
This week’s dress form outfit was purchased at thrift stores at separate times. The top was purchased at an American Thrift Store in Chattanooga while the skirt was purchased at a Goodwill store in Cleveland. I have often raved about my finds at thrift stores, and these two pieces are some of my great finds. The intricately stitched floral skirt features a lace hem and if you wanted to tuck in the sweater, then the wide waistband has belt loops so you could tie on a pretty black ribbon. Have a great week!
