I’ve pulled out my scarfs and am so excited about the cooler weather. For this week’s dress form outfit, I paired a green pashmina scarf with a knee-length (sleeveless) denim dress. The scarf is wide enough to use a wrap for the cooler evenings. I also like that the denim tie-belt is a lighter shade, so it breaks up the darker denim dress. I have also, on occasion, replaced the denim tie-belt with a more color belt or even my wide black corset-style belt (seen in last week’s DFO). I think this dress is both work and date-night appropriate. I […]
My Dress Form Outfit #42
Now that Autumn has truly arrived, with the cooler weather and overcast skies, I have begun to embrace the warmer clothing styles in my small closet. This week, I am showcasing a taupe colored long-sleeve turtle neck sweater dress. I cinched the waist with a wide corset-style belt. I purchased this sweater dress at the Goodwill in Kitty Hawk, NC, during this past summer. It only cost me $4.99 (before tax, of course), but what a bargain, am I right? I would pair this dress with a pair of warm black riding boots for the daytime and then I would […]
Dress Form Outfit #41
With fall approaching, I’m starting to pull out my long-sleeve shirts and sweaters. This week’s dress form outfit, I pulled out my Sons of Anarchy shirt out of the dresser and paired it with a denim mini. I added a bit of flair with the black and white zebra belt. Because SOA is a motorcycle club, I had my husband pull out his Harley Davidson Sportster so I could model this dress form outfit with an actual motorcycle. [Sidebar: The Sportster was my anniversary present to him a couple of years ago… lucky him, right?] I also modeled this dress […]
A New Look at Life Through the Eyes of Benjamin Button
I recently watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and it gave me a new look at life and how we (or more specifically, I) live our lives. It tells the story of Benjamin Button (played by Brad Pitt), a man who starts aging backwards with bizarre consequences. The movie is based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. A storyline summary on IMDb states: “On the day that Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, elderly Daisy Williams (nee Fuller) is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her […]
The September Issue
Every year, millions of fashionistas (almost all women, and some men) wait patiently for Vogue magazine’s “September Issue”. This year was no different, with the industry’s “fashion Bible” touting “916 pages of spectacular fall fashion for all”! And of course I was one of those millions who purchased the September issue with a certain level of expectation that there would truly be a wide array of “fall fashion for all”, meaning fall fashion that anyone and everyone could afford. First let me say that the issue didn’t even begin until page 76, which showed the first “table of contents”. Yes, I’m saying […]
