This week’s dress form outfit is very special because it features a vintage wedding dress worn by my husband’s grandmother, or “Maw” as she is affectionately known by all of us. R.C. and Audrey were married on May 4, 1946. Audrey had a double wedding with her sister, Jean. The four of them even honeymooned in Florida together. The dress has aged quite a bit, but it is still quite beautiful. The satin bodice features delicate cutouts around the neckline. The long sleeves feature three buttons along the wrists and a long line of buttons dress up the back of […]
Dress Form Outfit #27
Prints are a big trend this summer and I found this crazy cool print dress at the ARC Thrift Store in Colorado Springs, CO. Unfortunately, the tag has been cut out so I don’t know who made this dress. It is super soft and very comfortable. It has a deep v-neck and is ruched just below the bustline. It falls just below my knees. To make this a work-appropriate dress, I would probably pair it with 2-inch high heel brown sandals or espadrille wedges and a pink cardigan. On the weekend, I would pair it with a denim jacket and some high heel […]
Dress Form Outfit #26
This soft neutral floral dress features butterfly sleeves and small bit of ruching at the bust. This dress is probably about 10 years old, but I still love it because it really skims the body and makes for a perfect (sexy) date night dress, especially with a pair of sexy nude high heels. I purchased this dress “on sale” from New York & Company in Cleveland, Tenn., when I was working in Public Relations. This outfit can totally be “work appropriate” when paired with a sweet burgundy cardigan and work-appropirate heels. Have a fashionable week!
An Afternoon with YSL
On Friday, June 8th, my husband escorted me to “Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective” at the Denver Art Museum. The weather was as beautiful as the ball gowns featured in the exhibit! According to the Visitor Guide, “the Denver Art Museum, in collaboration with the Fondation Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent is delighted to present a sweeping retrospective of the designer’s forty years of creativity. Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective features a stunning selection of two hundred haute couture (high fashion) garments along with numerous photographs, drawings, and films that illustrate the development of Saint Laurent’s style and the historical foundations […]
Dress Form Outfit #25
During my “vacation” to Colorado, I didn’t get a chance to visit many thrift stores until this past Tuesday, and luckily I found a couple of pieces that I really liked. I went to the ARC Thrift Store in Colorado Springs and found this pretty watercolor floral print top, which I paired with a dressy mini-skirt. The top is by “Juliett Maui”, which I’d never heard of before but I just thought this top was so pretty. Has anyone ever heard of this label before? I googled it, but I couldn’t find anything. Later this week, I’ll update you on […]
