Dress Form Outfit: Black Velvet

Dress Form Outfit / www.vanessahwood.com

In December, I styled my dress form in a gold sleeveless Bob Mackie top and three layers of Christmas garland. This month, I’ve gone to the dark side and styled my dress form in a more casual outfit featuring a black velvet fitted blazer and my Patricia Nash crossbody bag. The weekends are the only time I can really show off my own personal style, mainly because I’m dressed in scrubs during the week {my day job is as a registered medical assistant for a surgeon who wears bow ties, but not while operating; only in the office, seeing patients}. Steal Her Style: Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen may be rocking her pregnancy style nowadays, but a couple of years ago, she styled a monochromatic look with a herringbone coat. This is still very much a classic look that can be worn this winter. Chrissy is an American model born in Delta, Utah, which is just two hours south from Salt Lake City {where I was born}. She is of Norwegien {her father} and Thai {her mother} descent, which is where she gets her exotic good looks. She is married to musician John Legend, and they have one daughter and is pregnant with their second child. […]

Steal Her Style: Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston has set several trends, most notably with her famous “Rachel” haircut. But if you’re like me, then you look to Jennifer for her uber cool California girl style. Even when she’s in New York City, she maintains an air of cool girl style that women everywhere try to replicate. Everyone fell in love with Jennifer in Friends, where she played the lovable Rachel Green. I loved Rachel’s style in the early years because it was a nice mix of cool and quirky, especially most of the short skirts, baggy pants, and body hugging sweaters. I also loved Rachel’s […]

What to Wear: Denim and Plaid

denim and plaid

Denim and plaid are Fall wardrobe staples year after year. When I think of denim and plaid, I see images of the Brawny Woman {who replaced the Brawny Man earlier this year to commemorate Women’s History Month}, decked out in her red and black plaid shirt and denim jeans. Earlier this year, I purchased a plaid shirt – my first plaid shirt in probably 25 or 30 years. The last plaid shirt I owned was pink and grey, and my best friend in college kindly told me that “pink was not my color.” I promptly went back to my dorm room […]

Six TV Characters with Wardrobes I’d Love to Steal

There are TV characters and then their are fashionable TV characters. I love it when a TV character is just as well known for their wardrobe as they are for their character the portray on the show. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City? For me, it’s her enviable walk-in closet {can we say #closetgoals?}, with all those clothes and all those shoes. Same thing goes for Serena van der Woodson and Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl. They both had different styles, and I guarantee everyone one […]
