October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, I have more of a reason to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors because now I am the daughter of a recent breast cancer survivor. In June of this year, my mom told me that she found a lump in her right breast. She said that her family physician said that the radiologist recommended that my mother have a breast biopsy. When she told me, I immediately texted the doctor I work with, Dr. William Gibson, because he specializes in treating patients with breast cancer. I knew that I wanted my […]
Celebrating 21 Years Together
A few years ago, I wrote a blog post about how my husband and I met, our first date, and how he proposed. And today, we’re celebrating out 21st anniversary. We technically celebrated our anniversary last night at a fancy restaurant – Flemings Steakhouse – in Knoxville. And I partook of a little vodka drink {and anyone who knows me, knows that I don’t drink – except maybe on special occasions}. Last night I told my husband, Mike, that if our anniversary was now old enough to drink, then so was I. 🙂 You can read about our love story […]
Sunday Inspiration: Where’s the Pause Button?
Sometimes a Sunday can feel like an albatross around your neck, especially if you aren’t looking forward to your Monday. So, where’s the pause button on Sundays? I know some people who “Netflix and chill” on their Sundays {I’m over here raising my hand as I binge-watch Gossip Girl}, while there are those who choose to work on Sundays. I work hard all week long that I honestly don’t feel {too} guilty for lounging around and doing nothing on […]
The Hype of Coconut Oil

Several years ago, dozens of celebrities jumped on the coconut oil bandwagon and they sucked us into the hype of its benefits. I have been using coconut oil for almost a year, mainly as a moisturizer for both my face and my hair. I also use it to make a homemade coffee brown sugar body scrub. I always find it interesting how other people are using this oil. You can use coconut oil in DIY recipes for body scrubs, […]
Tulle Skirts: Fall’s Fashion Darling
Carrie Bradshaw doesn’t have to be the only person who can wear a tulle skirt. With some styling tips, you too can put together a truly fashionable and trendy outfit. I love the look of a flouncy tulle skirt, especially in the Fall. They have just the right amount of femininity when paired with an edgy leather jacket or a slick pair of black moto boots. You can dress them up or dress them down. You can go full-on ballerina or style it with a leather jacket to make it look tough. Tulle skirts can be short, midi, or long. […]
