I never really understood the phrase “Netflix & Chill” until my husband and I gave up cable. First we got Amazon Prime, and then last year, that we added Netflix. It’s important to relax and recharge your batteries (so to speak), so I thought I’d put together a list of binge-worthy TV shows to watch (with a description of why I like them) on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
This list is rather long, but it will be totally worth it to me if you find your next binge-worthy TV show.
Best TV Shows to Binge-Watch
Atypical
A heartfelt comedy about Sam, a teenager on the autism spectrum, and how he goes about experiencing love and life and gaining independence, all while dealing with his family and friend. {Netflix}
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
First of all, this show had me hooked when I found out that John Krasinski was starring as Jack Ryan. I’ve already listened to some Tom Clancey’s books, and I’ve already watched some of the previous movies based around the character of Jack Ryan, so I’m really enjoying this series. {Amazon Prime}
Schitt’s Creek
Who doesn’t love the Rose family? The characters are a bit over-the-top, but that’s what I love about them and their lives! I hate that it ended after only six seasons, but I’d love for it to come back! {Netflix}
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
This award-winning show is great, it really is well-written. The 1950s costumes are gorgeous, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Midge wear the same outfit twice. {Amazon Prime}
Sex Education
This British TV show is so funny. It may be about awkward high school sexual encounters, but it’s so much more than that. {Netflix}
Fleabag
ONLY TWO SEASONS! I so wish there were more seasons! My husband started watching this British comedy-drama show first, and I came in on the second episode. Phoebe Waller-Bridges is amazing as the main character. {Amazon Prime}
The Crown
I was hesitant to watch this show at first, but when I started, I couldn’t seem to stop. It is so well written, and like many people around the world, I am captivated by the Royal family. {Netflix}
Suits
I really enjoyed this series, even before Meghan Markle became a Duchess. This show is easy to watch and fast-paced. You’ll fall in love with most of the main characters. {Amazon Prime}
The Ranch
This is one show that my husband and I binge-watch together. It has some political undertones which may not align with everyone’s views, but it has some great storylines. There are only four seasons (broken up into eight parts), and we are sad to see it end. {Netflix}
The Grand Tour
I feel like I only know and understand cars from watching Jeremy, Richard, and James go on these grand and unusual adventures, driving amazing cars, and bickering about which of them is the better driver and which one is the biggest idiot (their word, not mine).
Gilmore Girls
Before watching the latest reboot of this show, I decided to start from the beginning and reacquaint myself with fast-talking Lorelei and Rory, and the cast of characters of Stars Hollow. {Netflix}
Gossip Girl
This classic series about teens of the Upper East Side will have you hooked in the first episode. I love checking out Serena’s stylish outfits. {Netflix}
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman
If you miss David Letterman on late night television, you’ll really enjoy this series. Instead of interviewing several guests in an hour, David has in-depth, far-reaching conversations with a single guest.
Peaky Blinders
This is another show that my husband and I watch together. If you can get past the blood-shed and cursing, then you’ll love this epic gangster series. But I must warn you — this is not kid-friendly show, so make sure you watch it after the kiddos are fast asleep.
Other Shows on My Watchlist
Bodyguard
Sex and the City
Inside Edge
Chuck
Parks & Recreation
Entourage
The Night Manager
The Royals
30 Rock
The Good Place

Outlander
What are some of your favorite TV shows to binge watch?! Any that I absolutely need to watch? I’m sure I’m missing some other binge-worthy TV shows, but this list will get you started.
Happy binge-watching!
Yours Truly,
Vanessa
