More and more people are booking eco-friendly vacations. Eco-friendly travel practices can lift the remorse and lighten the blemish on Mother Earth. So today, for Wanderlust Wednesday, COVID-19 be damned. Come with me and daydream, if only for a little while, as I share a few “gorgeous, green destinations” that have eco-friendly and sustainable offerings.
Bali, Indonesia
Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. The island is also known for its yoga and meditation retreats. There are several eco-friendly resorts in Bali.
Helsinki, Finland
Helsinki, the green and easily approachable capital of Finland, is the Nordic hub of design, culture, food and urban nature. There are several eco-friendly and sustainable travel tips one can do before and during their trip to Finland, including travel lighter, travel during the off-season, and use public transportation.
La Fortuna, Costa Rica
La Fortuna is a small town in Costa Rica, northwest of the capital, San José. It’s known as a gateway to Arenal Volcano National Park, comprising 2 volcanoes. Active Arenal Volcano is still laced with lava flows. Hot springs dot the foot of the volcano, on the thermal Tabacón River. Dormant Chato Volcano has a crater lake and rainforest trails leading to La Fortuna Waterfall, with its natural pool. {Google}
Palau {Micronesia}
Lost in a great expanse of deep blue ocean, Palau harbors a diverse environment and an ancient island culture. This is a country that beckons to explorers, divers, and family vacationers, urging them to experience its breathtaking wonders, to encounter its 5,000 years of tradition, and to discover the lush tropical allure that is “Pristine Paradise”.
Blue Lagoon, Iceland
Founded in 1992 to unlock the benefits of geothermal seawater, Blue Lagoon Iceland has “evolved into a company encompassing transformative spa experiences, research and development, sustainability, culinary enjoyment, a renowned line of skin care, and the convergence of hospitality and wellness.”
Soneva Fushi, Maldives
Luxury at its finest… Eva and Sonu Shivdasani built Soneva Fushi, as well as their home, on the deserted island of Kunfunadhoo in the Maldives in 1995. “They had no idea that their intensely personal vision of a locally crafted villa and environmentally responsible lifestyle would form the basis of a successful collection of world-class hotels, resorts and spas. But that’s exactly what happened. Soneva Fushi was the first ‘castaway’ resort in the Maldives, pioneering a trend for back-to-nature luxury holidays.”
