Winter — I just love this time of year! Not only do we get to celebrate Thanksgiving and then Christmas, but there are holiday get-togethers with family and friends, parties, shopping, baking, mini-vacations, and stress… lots and lots of stress.
That’s why I was so excited to get my FabFitFun Winter 2019 box a couple of weeks ago. When I got the email from FabFitFun saying it was time to customize my Winter 2019 box, I was excited to see what my options were and I wasn’t disappointed. This season’s box is filled with pieces that will soon become some of my favorites.
But before I get into what was in my Winter box, I wanted to highlight the non-profit organization that FabFitFun partnered with this season. The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement was founded by journalist and author Maria Shriver.
Maria was inspired to start WAM when her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She learned that two-thirds of all brains with the disease belonged to women.
“We know now that what works for men doesn’t always work for women. There’s a very real gender research gap and we all need to pay more attention to women’s health issues.”
Maria Shriver
WAM strives to bring awareness to the importance of brain health and women-focused Alzheimer’s research.
Four tips to leading a brain-healthy life:
1. Exercise improves blood flow to the brain, and not just cardio.
2. Replace salt with herbs and spices, and be generous with cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, oregano, rosemary, and cilantro.
3. Change up your routine, like taking an alternate route to work or open doors with your non-dominant hand.
4. Share your concerns and grief with others, as it lowers stress hormone, cortisol, and increases oxytocin; and don’t forget that laughing can relieve stress and boost your immune system.
FabFitFun Winter Favorites
Hygge Mode
Who doesn’t love cozying up during the winter, and the PJ Salvage faux trim cable slippers {$45} and UnHide Lil’ Marshmallow faux fur blanket {$65} will definitely keep me warm when I Netflix and chill.
The other options I could have chosen from included: Kate Somerville Goat Milk moisturizing cream {$65}; R+CO Television Perfect Hair shampoo+conditioner {$64}; Jonathan Adler Fleur Del Sel ceramic candle {$48}; Rebecca Minkoff Marled beanie and armwarmer set {470}; Ban.Do Bluetooth shower speaker {$30}; LashesMD eyelash conditioner {$69.95}; and Erno Laszlo pore conditioning clay mask {$48}.
Daily Accessories
I couldn’t decide between the Paper Source™ 12-month rose floral planner {$27.95} and the Vooray Sidekick crossbody bag {$17.99}, so I just chose both items. I also chose the Adore by Swarovski organic circle bracelet {$39} in rose gold.
My other choices were Battington Lashles Monroe 3D Silk lashes + glue kit {$32}; Karuna Face For All face & eye mask set {$42}; Rodial Soft Focus glow drops {$55}; Beauty Bakerie Proof is in the Puddin’ palette {$38}; LXMI Pure Nilotica Melt {$28}.
Self-Care Staples
Everyone is into self-care days {or weekends}, and these next three items are sure to become staples in my self-care routine — Makeup Eraser in original pink {$20}, Cuccio Somatology™ Calm+Clean epsom salt hand and body wash {$39.95}, Frank Body original coffee scrub {$16.95}, and DryBar Prep Rally Prime & Prep detangler {$23}. Then I received a pair of Futzuki reflexology massaging insoles {$29.95}.
My other options included: Ahava salt bag {$16}; Vera Mona Color Switch Solo {$16.99}; and Inc.redible Nailsinc™ Thirsty Hand mask duo [$16}.
FabFitFun Add-On
I added this Alexa Fischer Wishbeads Bracelet + Book Duo in matte amethyst. {It was originally $72.95, but it was on sale for just $19.} Now all I have to do is write a wish on a tiny piece of paper, roll it up, and then enclose it in the tiny brass cylinder. After wishing, then I’ll use the Wishwork and work my way through 21 days of small action steps to keep tuned in and moving toward my wish.
This season’s box was designed by Geraldine Sy, an illustrator based in Cebu, Phillippines. She has been recognized as one of Adobe Photoshop’s 25 Artists Under 25. You can see more of her work on her Instagram account {@gerri.sy}.
Other FFF Quarterly Magazine Features
I enjoyed reading this magazine from cover-to-cover because it includes some great tips {and styling ideas} on how to use the products in the box. It also featured recipes {can’t wait to try the ginger cookies and the gluten-free peanut butter cookies}, and profiles on the women behind all of the brands featured in this season’s box.
One special feature in this magazine, which I plan to tack up on my corkboard, is a list of “50 No-Excuse Ways to Take a Break”. Here’s a look at the first 15…
There are so many great things to love about FabFitFun, and I hope you’ll take advantage of this subscription box. You can purchase it for just $49.99 on a quarterly basis, or $179.99 annually.
Do you subscribe to FabFitFun? If so, what was your favorite product from this season’s box? I’d love to hear all about it!
Yours Truly,
Vanessa
