Cracked feet and dry hands. Brittle nails and scaly elbows. Static-y hair and windburn skin. Those are just a few of the beauty dilemmas that us women face during the cold winter months.
Women around the world change their beauty routines when the seasons change. I know that for me, my skin texture changes from summer to winter and it drys out more in the winter than in the summer. So today’s post is all about how you can winterize your beauty routine.

Four of My “Universal” Tips
Some areas won’t experience a harsh winter, but these tips are universal. Here are some of my personal tips to help survive the cold, winter temperatures.
1. Switch your bar soap to a creamy, moisturizing body wash. Caress and Nivea has some really nices ones out right now.
2. Winterize your makeup routine. Use a moisturizing foundation or a tinted moisturizer instead of your heavy full-coverage foundation.
3. Exfoliate. If not every day, at least a couple of days a week. I know we always remember to exfoliate our arms and legs, but don’t forget to exfoliate your elbows, knees, heels, and hands. I use a homemade body scrub made of coconut oil, brown sugar and coffee grounds. I like this recipe from It’s a Raw Life.
4. Speaking of exfoliating… your face also needs to be gently scrubbed, including your lips. I exfoliate my face and/or body almost every day, using a selection of mild exfoliating scrubs. I use the lip exfoliator from e.l.f. cosmetics ($3). I also like the Mary Kay TimeWise Microdermabrasion Plus Set ($55) and Mary Kay’s Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush ($50).
