When it comes to traveling, there are few places that are more exciting to visit than the UK. Made up of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the UK comprises vibrant, diverse cities, rolling green countryside, and rocky shorelines that are perfect for both surfers and holiday makers who just want to try some fish and chips.
If you don’t know where exactly you should visit on your UK trip, here are some places you could put on your itinerary…
London
No trip to the UK is complete without visiting London. It’s one of the biggest and most exciting cities in the world, and it combines snazzy modernity with thousands of years of history.
Whether you want to shop for designer clothes on Bond Street, visit the Natural History Museum, or take photos outside Buckingham Palace, you will love this city. If you have kids, there are plenty of places you can take them – Hamleys is the biggest toy shop in Europe, and the Science Museum has interactive displays that every member of your family will love.
Brick Lane is perfect for anyone who loves fashion and food and who wants to find some real authenticity in the city, and the South Bank is ideal for anyone who wants to take in some culture. Not only are the National Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall there, but Shakespeare’s Globe is there, along with a museum explaining its history. Groundling tickets, where you stand and watch the show, are very reasonably priced.
Edinburgh
The capital of Scotland is known for its cultural impact, its incredible architecture, and its outstanding natural beauty. You can visit Edinburgh any time of the year to take a look around King Arthur’s castle and walk up to Arthur’s Seat.
You could also visit an art gallery or museum, and the city really lights up in August, when the world’s biggest arts festival takes place. It can be pricey that time of year, but it’s worth it to see some of the best and innovative theater, comedy, dance and music in the world. Going down the Royal Mile during the Fringe is an experience that every culture vulture needs to enjoy.
Bath
Not only is Bath one of the most beautiful cities in the UK but it also has one of the richest histories. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and was founded by the Romans as a thermal spa town before being developed with elegant Georgian architecture in the eighteenth century.
You can visit the Roman baths – although you can’t swim in them! – and check out the attached museum, which is full of fascinating historical facts. The famous cathedral is beautiful and also worth a look, and of course you can’t forget the thermal baths.
If you want a unique experience, then a boutique B&B Bath is the perfect place to go. There are a lot of gorgeous places you can spend the night before having a slap-up breakfast the next morning. Finally, make sure that you enjoy afternoon tea at one of the city’s beautiful teashops, and eat a famous Bath bun!
The UK is one of the world’s most varied and exciting countries. Tour around, and find out what area suits you best!
