I’ve been a fan of Hugh Jackman since he played the scruffy Wolverine in the first X-Men movie 19 years ago. The fact that he’s Australia doesn’t hurt either đ He has always carried himself with respect and confidence and style, which is why I named him this month’s “Man of Style”.
I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for an accent, especially an Australian accent. I fell in love with Australia back in 1987 after watching the made-for-TV movie, The Facts of Life Down Under. Little did I know that 13 years later, I would discover Hugh Jackman, a talented Australia actor.
Hugh Jackman has rightfully earned his title as âone of the nicest guys in Hollywood.â
Interesting Facts About Hugh:
- His work in Les MisĂ©rables earned him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and his first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor â Motion Picture Musical or Comedy in 2013.
- Jackman became known outside Australia in 1998, when he played the leading role of Curly in the Royal National Theatreâs acclaimed stage production of Oklahoma!, in Londonâs West End.
- His parents were English and had come to Australia in 1967 as part of the âTen Pound Pomsâ immigration.
- His parents were devout Christians, having been converted by Evangelist Billy Graham after their marriage.
- He was a last-minute addition to the X-Men (2000) cast. Dougray Scott was originally cast as Wolverine, but Mission: Impossible II (2000) required two extra months of shooting.
