Cannes. Just the name of this Parisian coastal city oozes glamour and luxury. Celebrities flock there for the Cannes Film Festival, but there is so much more to see in this seaside city than films.
Cannes is a resort town on the French Riviera and is home to the world-famous Cannes Film Festival.
Curving along the coast, the Boulevard de la Croisette, is lined with sandy beaches, upscale boutiques, and opulent hotels. It’s also home to the Palais des Festivals, a modern building complete with a red carpet and Alles des Stars – Cannes Walk of Fame. Hotel prices range from $110 (a three-star) to $460 (a five-star). The Cannes Film Festival opened on May 14th and extends until May 25th.
But why is Cannes such a draw to the average tourist? Because it’s associated with the rich and famous, and who among us wouldn’t like to live among the rich and famous, if only for a week or two.
First popularized by Coco Chanel, Cannes beaches are a huge draw. Get expensive seaside food and drinks service on hotel sand or opt for the free public beaches, Plages du Midi and de la Boca. If you really want to get in the spirit, just watch Grace Kelly and Carey Grant in the classic movie, “To Catch a Thief.”
The team at The Lux Vacation Blog has found some must-see places when visiting the city, including La Croisette and Marche Forville.

Like Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, Cannes has the Alles des Stars, a floor with the handprints of stars. You could also take the Cinema Guided Tour.

And don’t forget about the beaches, including Plage Mace (a free, yet crowded, beach).
