Power suits of the 70s and 80s were boxy and included shoulder pads {very reminiscent of Bianca Jagger}. They conveyed a woman’s confidence, her power, and sometimes, her sexiness.
But today’s power suits are somehow more stylish, and yet, some still give off a retro vibe, a la Kaia Gerber. {Not to take anything away from the amazing styling of Biana Jagger}.
I actually like the matchy-matchy vibes of a coordinated blazer with trousers, but what I really love – especially as summer approaches – is the short suit. In fact, you could rock a blazer {any color, style, or pattern} with pants, a skirt, shorts, or a skort.
Just take a look at these coordinated sets and tell me that you don’t love them too!
Here are some great places to shop for your own short suit:
- Venus {Blazer / Shorts}
- ASOS {Blazer /Shorts – these shorts with any brightly colored blazer}
- River Island {Blazer / Short}
- ShopBop {Blazer / Short}
- Forever 21 {Blazer / Skirt}
- Fashion Nova {Suit Set 1 / Suit Set 2 / Suit Set 3}
- SheIn {Blazer w/ Short Set}
What’s your Power Suit Style?
You don’t have to be all matchy-matchy, but it does help if you put some effort into your PS style.
Do you rock a power short suit? Do you mix and match your blazer and shorts? Or does the pattern in your blazer have to match the pattern in your shorts? Let me know in the comments below!
Yours Truly,
