I once heard Las Vegas described as Disneyland for grown-ups, and I think that’s a pretty good description of what you can expect on a visit there! In fact, it’s a truly unique place with a myriad of entertainment options that extend well beyond casino life. This being a side, along with the more traditional parts of Las Vegas, that you can read more about in my post below.
Gambling
Of course, many of Vegas’ visitors come for the gambling and nightlife, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you keep within your limits.
Luckily, you can help yourself do this by following a few rules as you play. The first is to choose a casino that has low buy-in at the tables, meaning you are only charged a small amount to play each game. Otherwise, you can quickly get through all your spare cash and still be looking for something to do for the rest of the night.
Additionally, be sure to tip your waitress well, because in Vegas they will bring you free drinks as you play. Of course the more you tip, the more they are likely to come back to you, and that means you can have a much better, and cheaper, time by adding a few dollars to the gratuity.
Shows
Once you have tired of the casino or spent all your gambling money, it’s time to get out and experience the other treats that Vegas has to offer. One in particular that many visitors enjoy is to take in a show.
In fact, Vegas shows are unlike anything else on earth because they are made on such a big scale with high production value. What that means is that you can expect spectacular shows that leave you awed and amazed.
Even better is the fact that you can book Vegas show tickets online now before you even arrive. Something that can help you be sure you get to see the production that you have your heart set upon.
Food
There is no shortage of food in Vegas. In fact, you could if you chose to, do nothing but eat your way around the city, sampling all the delight on offer.
Although, the key epicurean highlight that Vegas is so well known for is the “all you can eat” buffet that many of the hotels on the strip offer. In fact, these run at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just be sure to look out for Alaskan snow crab legs, as I hear that these are delicious!
Chilling
Finally, if all the gambling, eating, and seeing shows have left you exhausted, why not treat yourself to a little rest and relaxation? One place you can do this is in the hotel spas, of which you will find in many of the higher end establishment along the strip. Just like the Qua Baths And Spa at Caesars Palace.
Alternatively, most hotels have a pool, and Mandalay Bay have entire 11-acre beach complex replete with lifeguards, lazy rivers, and wave machines. The tremendous new is that it’s only $20 admission if you aren’t a guest at the hotel, so you can visit no matter where you are staying. No wonder folks love Las Vegas!
I’ve been to Vegas all of two times, but I can’t wait to go back. The first time, we stayed a couple of blocks off The Strip, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The second time, we stayed in The Cosmopolitan, located next to the Bellagio.
There are a lot of touristy things to do. Visit the Mob Museum. Experience Fremont Street. Take a ride in the High Roller Ferris Wheel. Take a guided tour of the Neon Museum. I could go on and on and on…
And every hotel has something unique to see or to discover. Take a gondola ride through the Venetian Hotel. See the Vegas Strip from the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel. Enjoy the fountain show in front of the Bellagio. Ride the indoor roller coaster at the New York New York Hotel.
Have you been to Vegas? If so, where did you stay? What are your favorite restaurants? I won’t ask too much, because I know that “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!”
Yours Truly,
Vanessa
