British-American beauty Arizona Muse could be mistaken for one of Karlie Kloss’ older sisters, but this stunning model has forged her own path in the fashion world. Her elegant style and graceful poise is why I’ve named her this month’s “Woman of Style”.
In her editor’s letter for the February 2011 issue of US Vogue, Anna Wintour described Arizona as “gorgeous, smart, grown-up”, also comparing her to the likes of Linda Evangelista and Natalia Vodianova.
Although Arizona began modeling as a teenager, her career did not begin until after she had her son, Nikko, in 2009 (born April 14, 2009), with fashion stylist Manuel Quintana.
She has appeared in editorials in French, American, Chinese, British, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Italian Vogue, and Dazed & Confused. The March 2011 issue of Dazed & Confused was dedicated to her. {Source: Wikipedia}
Model Muse
Lucinda Baring wrote an excellent article for Net-A-Porter about Arizona Muse and her “modern romance” with Boniface Verney-Carron, the osteopath who had been treating Arizona’s son, Nikko. It will give you such a great insight into this style icon.
Modelling was Never an Aspiration
“Modelling [sic] wasn’t a dream I had, although it’s turning into my dream,” she told US Vogue in January 2011. “From when I was about seven, I thought I wanted to be an architect,” she has said. “I’ve always loved spaces and dwellings in general.” {Vogue UK}
The half British, half American supermodel has fronted campaigns for Prada, Fendi, YSL and Louis Vuitton, and landed multi-million-dollar beauty contracts as the face of Estée Lauder and Chanel. {Net-a-Porter}
According to Ms. Baring, Arizona is set to launch a sustainable fashion brand in February (2019) with her friend (and former artistic director at Matthew Williamson) Georgie Macintyre, starting with a small collection of 10 exceptional party dresses.
Sustainable Fashion
Arizona has a heart for sustainability, especially when it comes to fashion. Ms. Baring wrote that “in the last 18 months, {Arizona} has been invited to speak on panels for sustainability consultancy Eco Age, she gave an introductory speech at the new V&A exhibition Fashioned from Nature, and is working with conservation charity Sychronicity Earth, and The Sustainable Angle.”
“I don’t know why my smile has become a signature pose,” said Arizona. “I think it’s a nice change. I think people want to see happiness, so a smile is what can bring that. I didn’t make it my trademark on purpose.”
After reading a few articles about Arizona {I mean, who doesn’t just love her name – amiright?}, I have more of a girl-crush on her now than before I published today’s post. She’s simply amazing!
Who else is obsessed with style icon Arizona Muse?
