To me, dressing for a winter date night means wearing velvet. Date nights are essential for couples in any stage of their relationship. So when I plan a date night with my husband, I tend to put an outfit on my dress form to see how it’s going to look before I actually put it on. That’s exactly what I did with this winter date night outfit for today’s dress form outfit post.
Winter Date Night
For this outfit I paired my black velvet jacket {purchased at a thrift store many, many years ago} with a Vera Moda sleeveless peplum top {purchased at my local Goodwill store} and black coated Faded Glory leggings {purchased at my local Wal-Mart}. The black Halston wristlet was purchased from FabFitFun and the Mossimo wedge booties were purchased from the StateMint Style consignment sale in September.
{Sidebar: Funny story about these black wedge booties. Several years ago, I purchased this same style bootie from Target, on sale for less than $7. They were a size 7.5, and technically they were a wee bit small, but they fit and I wore them everywhere. My precious Daisy liked them too, because she chewed on the toes of them, permanently leaving her mark on them. So when I went to the StateMint Style consignment sale in September, I saw this pair of booties on the floor amongst all the other shoes and picked them up just to look at them. When I checked the size and saw they were a size 8, I didn’t think twice about putting them in my bag and bringing them home with me. I think I paid about the same price as I did back then. I have now retired my size 7.5s to the closet and have these booties at the ready for outfits like the the one pictured above and below.}
I love dressing up in an outfit like this for date nights, mainly because it is dressy-casual. I feel comfortable in this look because it hides my imperfections, but it also makes me look polished. I added the silver double pendant necklace from Gorjana, which I got in my FabFitFun Winter 2016 box. Gorjana has so many lovely pieces! {And just be clarify for full disclosure… today’s post is in no way sponsored by Gorjana or FabFitFun; it just so happens that they have such wonderful and versatile pieces that go with every outfit.}
So to phrase all the style-impaired guests on Jeannie Mai’s fashion show… “How do I look?”
