A couple of years ago, I featured Knoxville, Tenn., in one of my “Wanderlust Wednesday” posts. I posted it the Wednesday after I walked around downtown during the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walk. This coming Saturday, Oct. 27th, I will once again be participating in the Komen walk. There are so many small, locally-owned business, restaurants, micro-breweries, and hotels located in downtown Knoxville, that you could literally plan a stay-cation, or weekend getaway, in the city and not have to drive anywhere.
Aside from walking through the city {once a year with other walkers}, once every couple of months or so, I have been meeting my friend, Marcy, for dinner in the Market Square area of downtown Knoxville. She and I have been slowly eating our way through all of the fantastically tasty restaurants that downtown Knoxville has to offer. I can’t wait to meet up with her in the next week or so and discover a new delicious restaurant! {I also went on a walking food tour a couple of years ago, and you can read about that here.}
So now, on to what Knoxville has to offer you!!
Home of the Tennessee Volunteers, David Keith, Kenny Chesney, Quentin Tarantino, Jack Hanna, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Christina Hendricks. It’s more than just a college town. It is a must-visit for anyone who wants to stay in a great city with a hometown feel. With over 100 things to see and do and dozens of awesome places to eat in the Old City, Knoxville is quickly becoming a popular destinations for singles, couples, and families to visit. And Dollywood is less than an hour away!
Every time I have walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, I have seen a lot of great eateries and small businesses and boutiques that I wanted to visit. It made me realize that there was a whole other world in downtown Knoxville that I never really knew existed. So I put some of these destinations on my list to visit.
