“I would gladly live out of a suitcase if it meant I could see the world.”
I haven’t done a “Wanderlust Wednesday” post in several months, but that doesn’t mean that I no longer have those moments that I don’t wish that I could just take a year off and travel. I still have “itchy feet,” or what people may call “wanderlust”, or a very strong or irresistible impulse to travel and explore the world. I haven’t been all over the world (yet), but I always say that when I hit the lottery, I’m going to do some serious traveling!
I’d literally criss-cross my way around the globe and it would probably take a good year or so! I’d hit a few places in the continental USA. Then I’d make stops in Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, Fiji, Bora Bora, China, Japan, India, Dubai, France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, England, Ireland (and look up my husband’s ancestry in Donegal), Cape Town, Namibia, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Cuba… just to name a few.
Pinterest has a lot of great photos of far-away places, and here are a few places I’d love to visit.
I enjoy watching movies with beautiful locations. I also love that most of the beautiful locations have such a rich, deep history, like the Vatican City in Italy.
I have wanted to go to Australia ever since the girls from The Facts of Life went “down under”. I even wrote to the Sydney Chamber of Commerce and asked if there really was such a thing as a black opal. So my dream to go to Australia has been burning in my heart since 1987!
My friend, Barbara and her husband, were married in Hawaii several years ago and they spent a few days at the St. Regis Princeville Resort. I’d love to go to a pineapple farm, a real Hawaiian luau, and take a hike to see a volcano and a waterfall!
My husband and I are planning to trip Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher are on our “to see” list. Some of his ancestors are from the Donegal part of Ireland and one of my favorite groups, The Script, is from Dublin. When Sons of Anarchy was on FX, the Sons traveled to Ireland. That episode really put Ireland at the top of our bucket list.
Ahhh… Paris… isn’t it known as the “City of Love” or something like that? How many couples have either gotten engaged at the top of the Eiffel Tower or married in Paris? How romantical! I have been obsessed with Paris since forever, as evident by the name of my blog! One of these days, I’ll stroll around Paris, taking in the views of the Eiffel Tower while eating a chocolate croissant and drinking tea.
I haven’t seen but a few movies that featured India’s beautiful scenery – Monsoon Wedding, Outsourced, Marigold, Million Dollar Arm, and the PBS mini-series, Indian Summers – but India has such a deep, fascinating history. India has the Taj Mahal, the Jaipur Palace, the Golden Temple, and the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman”, Aishwrya Rai {although I think Priyanka Chopra is also one of the world’s most beautiful women.}
I love that Christ the Redeemer is over-looking Rio de Janeiro. This symbol of Brazilian Christianity stands 130 feet tall, including the 31-ft-tall pedestal, and is 98 feet wide. It weighs a whopping 635 tons and is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone. It is the largest Art Deco statue in the world.
I didn’t know what a lava pool was until I started looking up unique places to see in Portugal, but this lava pool in Maderia overlooks the ocean and is simply gorgeous! It is a bathing pool made of bizarre lava rocks and is filled by the tide with crystal clear water. How beautiful is this? Definitely on my bucket list!
I could watch Seven Years in Tibet over and over simply because of the beautiful scenery, and Brad Pitt (of course). The Potala Palace reminds me of the movie. I even made myself a set of Buddhist prayer beads several years ago, and I use them on the rare occasion when I need to calm the anxiety in my mind.
Who wouldn’t want to stay in a bungalow that was elevated above the water? Did anyone see Couples Retreat? It was filmed at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort. Bora Bora has been on my bucket list long before the Maldives or the Seychelle Islands, both of which also have over-the-water bungalows and tranquil blue waters.
What far-away places would you love to visit? Are there places that you’ve been that you think I should put on my bucket list? I’d love to hear from you!
Yours Truly,
Vanessa

Such many places – so little time!! I dream of the maldives! But you know, you almost never get stamps in your passport anymore 🙁 Most countries quit that..
I totally agree about traveling I would love to travel to see the world and it’s rich history. I think though I would like to take longer than a year; taking weeks in an area to paint. And there are so many beautiful things about a location that can only be observed when you spend extra time. Anyways, being able to travel would be loads of fun.
Wow, nice selection!
And i thought i was the only one willing to go to Madeira! 🙂
I found that pic of Madeira and thought it was awesome! It is still on my “to see” list! Also, I have a friend who lives in Portugal. Thanks for liking my post! I appreciate your support! Good luck in all your endeavors!
