Every summer comes and goes in a blaze of glory, and if you’re like me, your weekends are jam-packed with indoor and outdoor activities. There’s only one way to be ready for the summer, and that’s to make sure that you have some of this summer’s must-have items at the ready
Denim shorts are a summer staple. Whether you buy a pair of denim shorts or if you sacrifice a pair of jeans to DIY a pair of distressed denim shorts, this summer must-have never goes out of style. Styles range from short {as in “cheeky” short} to Bermuda, and every length and style in between. It just depends on your preference.
I’ve linked some cool summer bags {and dupes}, via a blog called “Wishes & Reality”. The original article says that these bags for Spring, but they could easily transition to Summer, and quite possibly into Fall.
The maxi dress.
Who doesn’t love a cool, summery maxi dress! And by maxi dress, I don’t necessarily mean the style that grazes the ground. Maxi dresses come in a variety of styles. Personally, I like the length that allows you to show off your shoes. I also like the wrap maxi dresses, especially for special occasions {like an outdoor wedding}.
The matching sets.
I like the look of a matchy-matchy outfit, where your top matches your bottoms {whether it be a skirt, pants, or shorts}. I’ve seen some of my blogger friends wearing such
Finding the perfect pair of slides is hard, especially ones that can transition from day to night, and are comfortable enough to wear all day long. I like slides that have a good, solid sole that flexes while you walk and holds up to every day “wear”. I also like slides that have a bit of hardware {like the pair pictured above} on them because they can dress up an outfit.
Janessa Leone hats.
I seems like these hats are the go-to hats for bloggers and celebrities alike, and she makes great hats for all seasons. Straw hats are big for summer, while her wool hats are perfect for fall and winter.
Solid & Striped swimsuits.
One blogger I follow has several Solid & Striped swimsuits, all one-piece suits. I love this brand because they make such stylish one-pieces with unique twists and beautiful colors.
I love wrap tops because they are classic and can be worn with everything from jeans and shorts to fancy skirts or over slip dresses. I just recently bought a black and white gingham wrap top, which I plan to display on my dress form in the near future!
I’m afraid of wearing white because I tend to spill things on myself and my white outfit would inevitably end up stained, or worse, dingy. But that won’t stop me from wearing a classic white top this summer.
I have a tendency to buy single color, no pattern, dresses for summer, but I have seen a lot of really pretty floral mini-dresses on a few of the bloggers I follow. I have also found a couple of floral dresses I actually like and may purchase this summer.
I have a pair of white jeans that I love, but like white blouses, I’m afraid to wear the jeans for fear of spilling something all over them and essentially ruining them. I did wear them out once a few weeks ago, but I’ve decided to not let my clumsiness stop me from wearing my white jeans with different tops this summer. And you white jeans don’t have to be boring. Try a pair of wide-leg jean, like the pair pictured above.
Round beach towels.
A few seasons ago, I received a roundie beach blanket {or towel} in my FabFitFun box. I think the round towels are such a great change-up from the long, rectangular beach towels. The roundie is large enough for you to put your stuff on it instead of beside it like you would a regular beach towel.
What are some of your summer must-haves? I love discovering new trends and products, so leave your suggestions in the comments below so I can check them out!
Have a wonderful July!
Yours Truly,
Vanessa
