Dinner Party with the Cast of Will & Grace

Will & Grace reboot 2017

For eight seasons, the cast of Will & Grace were a part of my life. Although Will Truman and Grace Adler may have been considered the main characters, I probably enjoyed watching Karen Walker and Jack McFarland just as much, if not more. So when it was announced that they were bringing the show back, I was ecstatic! Since it’s latest premier back at the end of September of this year, I haven’t missed an episode. My love for these characters is why I’ve invited Will, Grace, Jack and Karen to my house for a little {imaginary} dinner party.

Will & Grace & Jack & Karen

If you haven’t seen Will & Grace, or even tried watching it because two of the characters are gay, then you are truly missing out on a really good half-hour comedy show. So here’s the breakdown… Will, a gay lawyer, and his best friend, Grace Adler, a straight interior designer, live together. Jack is a struggling actor, and he is Will’s first gay best friend from college. Karen “works” as Grace’s assistant at Grace Adler Designs. The wit and repartee of these characters make for a great T.G.I.T., not to mention that many of their one-liners are laugh-out-loud hilarious!

The show also has some really touching moments, like in the most recent episode where Jack finds out he has a grandson {who is likely gay} named Skip. When Jack discovers that his son, Elliott, and his wife, are sending Skip to a gay conversion camp to “fix him”, Jack follows Skip to the camp and tells him {and I’m paraphrasing here} that it will get better. Jack promises Skip that even though his parents don’t understand or support who he is, that there’s “the family you’re born into and the family you choose.” The family Jack chose, “well, it doesn’t get any better than that.” Skip asks what to do until he finds that family, and Jack tells him: “You are exactly who you’re supposed to be.” {Source: The Daily Beast}

When I thought about who I wanted to invite to this month’s dinner party, the actors who bring these four characters to life kept coming to mind. Eric McCormack {Will}, Debra Messing {Grace}, Sean Hayes {Jack}, and Megan Mullally {Karen} are all exception actors, and after Will & Grace ended, they all moved on to do other things.

Eric went on to play Dr. Daniel Pierce in the American crime drama Perception. Debra starred in the short-lived musical drama Smash, and most recently played homicide detective Laura Diamond in the police-procedural comedy, The Mysteries of Laura. Megan hosted her own talk show after Will & Grace ended, and has been a series regular on several television shows. Sean moved on to Broadway, starring in An Act of God and Promises, Promises, in which he played Chuck Baxter and received a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. {Source: Wikipedia}

So what are my dinner party plans for this cast of characters? Pizza and beer, and charades! Yes, I said pizza and beer and charades. I would order several different pizzas so we could all relax and let the conversations flow, and then we would pair off to play charades – Eric and Debra vs Megan and Sean vs me and my husband. I think Eric and Debra would win hands down, but my husband and I would give them a run for their money!

Who else would want to come to my dinner party? Are you watching this season of Will & Grace? What do you think about it so far? Let me know what you think!

Yours Truly,
Vanessa
