I’m sure that if you look in your pantry, I’m sure you’ll find a can of pumpkin puree, apple cider, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, honey, and either brown or white sugar. All of these ingredients mixed together may make a pretty delicious pie, but if you mix and match a few of these ingredients together, they also make some wonderful fall-inspired DIY beauty treatments.
From body and lip scrubs to face and hair masks, these seven fall-inspired DIY beauty treatments can be whipped together any weekend.
This chilly Fall weather often leaves my skin {especially my arms and legs} very dry and cracked looking. I love making body scrubs because I use coconut oil in the mixture, which leaves my body feeling smooth and moisturized.
Mix together the following ingredients this Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub:
* 1 cup of sugar
* 1/4 cup of coconut oil
* 2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
* 2 tsp of vanilla
Store in an airtight container. It should keep for a couple of weeks or so. I use my body scrub in the shower and then just pat dry.
I’m not really into face sheets but I love a good face mask, especially if it *feels* like it’s doing something {kind of like those clay masks that tighten the skin on your face as it drys, making the mask appear cracked}. This face mask is kind of like that, except you won’t feel like your face will crack if you smile or laugh.
To make this Pumpkin face mask, just mix the following ingredients.
* 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
* 1 tsp of honey
* 1 egg
Then leave the mask on for 20 minutes. Don’t be alarmed if it hardens. Just wash it off with warm water and a washcloth, or hop in the shower and wash it off.
After a long day at work, I like to take a long hot bath with scented Epsom salts. I love the warm smell of pumpkin and vanilla together, and this Pumpkin Vanilla Bath Salts hits the spot. Who knew Epsom salt baths could be so indulgent! This DIY recipe yields two cups and can be put in two small resealable {airtight} jars. Then you can keep one jar and give the other jar to a friend who also enjoys pumpkin-scented beauty treatments.
Mix the following ingredients to make these bath salts:
* 1-1/2 cups of Epsom Salts
* 1/2 cup of sea salt
* 1/2 cup of baking soda
* 1 tsp of vanilla extract or flavoring {or you can use 6-8 drops of vanilla essential oils}
* 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
{Optional: a couple of drops of orange food coloring}
Airtight containers or resealable jars
Put the first three ingredients together in a medium mixing bowl and stir until well mixed. Then add the vanilla extract {or vanilla essential oil} and the pumpkin pie spice and stir again until well mixed. The mixture will be light brown in color, but if you want a bit of color, then add a drop or two of orange food coloring and stir to distribute the color. Then pour the salt mixture in airtight containers, like mason jars. These bath salts can be stored for up to six months. When you’re ready to use the bath salts, just pour 1/4-to-1/2 cup into your warm {or hot} bath water and enjoy the scents of Fall.
Everyone deserves smooth lips during the cold seasons, and this Pumpkin Pie lip scrub is perfect for Fall. Not only will this scrub exfoliate your lips, but it will also moisturize {thanks to the coconut oil} and nourish {thanks to the Vitamin A and C in the pumpkin puree} them as well. It’s a win-win-win!
Mix together the following ingredients until well incorporated:
* 1/4 cup of 100% pumpkin puree
* 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
* 3 Tbsp of brown sugar
* 1 Tbsp of coconut oil
Then put the lip scrub in small airtight containers and give them to all your friends who deserve soft lips this Fall. When y’all are ready to use this lip scrub, then just apply the scrub generously to your lips. After a few minutes, then just wipe off.
Don’t forget that your hair also needs some TLC this Fall. So when your hair gets dry from this chilly weather, this pumpkin hair mask will nourish and moisture your hair.
This whipped pumpkin spice body butter smells like it could have come from Bath & Body Works. This decadent body butter smells delicious, with its mixture of warm spices {from essential oils}. It is thick and luscious, but sinks into the skin nicely, leaving your body feeling soft.
For this body butter, you’ll need three main ingredients – pumpkin seed oil, refined shea butter, and mango butter. Use either an electric hand mixer or a stand mixer to get a smooth consistency. You’ll also add several drops of the following essential oils – benzoin, cinnamon bark, ginger, and clove bud – to the mix. And finally, add either gold or bronze mica {or both} to add some color to the body butter. {Click HERE for specific directions for this body butter recipe.}
