In putting together my editorial calendar for Blogtober 2017, I decided I wanted to put together a collage of sorts, featuring some of my previous dress form outfits. When I started blogging back at the beginning of 2012, my antique dress form was featured in a weekly “dress form outfit” post and showed a different outfit every week.
Here are some of my dress form outfits from that first year.
As I purchased clothes, whether they were from a thrift store or a department store, they showed up on my dress form at one time or another. Outfit #20 showed a dress that I purchased from a thrift store, and shows my sweet Daisy Mae peeking out from under the dress. Outfit #30 featured one of my favorite denim dresses. The belt was purchased at a thrift store and I made the layered necklace myself. Outfit #40 featured one of my favorite skirts paired with a denim shirt.
I received my dress form for Christmas in 2011, from my husband and my parents. They actually put my wedding dress on it. At first I didn’t understand why they were so excited in showing me my wedding dress, but then my husband explained to me that my gift was actually the dress form that my wedding dress was hanging on. Then I got excited! You see, there is this antique store in Cleveland, Tenn., that my husband and I almost always go into when we visit my parents. I had been oohing and aahing over the dress forms in that antique store for years, but many of them were not for sale.
My dress form outfits may not impress many people, and I’m okay with that because I don’t dress it for anyone except for me. I love to find special gems at a thrift store or consignment store and pair them with something I bought at a department store, or some place like Target, TJ Maxx, or Forever 21.
My love for fashion comes from a pure place — a place that loves to feel and smell the fabrics, a place that admires those who get the opportunity to work in fashion magazines, and a place that is inspired by {and sometimes a little envious of} other fashion bloggers. I may not be a big-time fashion blogger, but I enjoy what I do here in my little “Green Acres”.
