Hello, and welcome to another Saturday Dinner Party, where I invite some of my favorite celebrities {from movies, TV, music, and other entertainment genres} over to my house in the East Tennessee countryside for an imaginary dinner party. This month, I’ve invited three of my favorite Country Music couples. I don’t listen to country music as much now as I did several years ago {I’m an NPR junkie}, but these country music artists are still some of my favorites to this day.
The three couples I’ve invited to my {imaginary} dinner party are Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, and Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman.
I couldn’t imaging a “Country Music Couples” dinner party without these three couples, so I thought I’d keep this dinner party small, making it a more intimate affair. I also thought I’d pay my respects to Trisha Yearwood and prepare three wonderfully tasty dishes from her cookbooks.
Making a dish from someone’s recipe book can be a bit of a challenge and somewhat intimidating, especially since Trisha Yearwood has her own cooking show on the Food Network. BUT… I have selected three recipes that are super flavorful and fairly simple to make: lettuce wedges with dressing {Trisha put blue cheese dressing on her wedges, but I would have a selection of dressings because I’m not a fan of blue cheese}, roast beef with gravy, and easy peach cobbler. As a side to the roast beef, I would have my version of green beans and mashed potatoes. As an appetizer/pre-dinner snack, I would put out a veggie tray and have my husband, Mike, preparing everyone’s drinks, whether it be southern sweet tea or an alcoholic beverage of their choosing {i.e., wine or a cocktail, or something that will put hair on your chest}.
I have been a fan of these musicians and actors for over 15+ years. Their music has touched my heart in such a way that I feel as if some of their songs were written just for me. If, by some random coinkydink, they decided to burst out in song and serenade the group during dessert or afterwards, that would fine by me! Heck, we may even play Pictionary or some other kind of “couples” game, just so we can get to know each other better!
Here are some of the questions I would ask these three couples:
- How do you keep the spark alive in your marriage?
- What are some of your favorite “couples only” activities {outside of the bedroom}?
- What are some of your favorite food / dishes?
- What are three things about your spouse that make you fall in love with them all over again?
- Do you have any regrets about choices you made in your careers?
- What are your favorite songs and/or movies?
- What book(s) do you have on your bedside table?
- What music artist are you listening to now?
I’m sure the conversation would be flowing after a few of these Q&As, but what other questions would you ask these three Country Music couples? And what are some of your favorite songs and/or movies by these individuals? I could go on and on about why they are my favorites, but I’ll simply say this – they seem like good, down-to-earth, country folk that I would love to really share a meal with. Also, I’ll need to tell Nicole and Keith how before they got married, I dreamed that they asked me to help plan their wedding in Australia!
Are there any other Country Music couples that you would invite to your dinner party? Let me know who else you would invite and maybe I’ll do a “Part 2” of this Dinner Party with other Country Music couples! Leave your comments below!
Yours Truly,
Vanessa
