My scent story runs deep. I have flip-flopped back and forth between several fragrances, and still, to this day, I am in search of my signature scent. However, I tend to change scents as as the seasons change.
Most recently, I am using Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon rollerball. Also in the mix is Midnight Fleur by NEST Fragrance, Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs, and Forever Diamonds by Mary Kay. The one scent that has been a constant since I was in middle school, when I started wearing perfume, has been Love’s Baby Soft.
As you can tell from this photo, I enjoyed all of these perfumes!
Do you remember Colors by Benetton? What about Giorgio or Ex-cla-ma-tion? Did you go crazy of the Designer Imposters body sprays? There were so many good ones back in the 80s and 90s!
Back in 1990, when I was a junior in high school, I fell in love with two perfumes — Avon’s Undeniable by Billy Dee Williams and Unforgettable by Revlon. I was recently looking on the Internet for these two perfumes and found Avon’s Undeniable for sale at a whopping $61.99! WHAT?!?! My mom didn’t pay that much for this perfume back in 1990, so why should I pay that now! Unforgettable by Revlon, in which Cindy Crawford was the spokesmodel, is on sale for $28. That’s a more reasonable price, especially since I have paid $29 for a rollerball perfume at Sephora.
Unforgettable had a rich and intensive floral and woody oriental scent. Top notes: freesia, orange blossom and lily-of-the-valley. Heart: iris, orris and jasmine. Base: amber, musk and sandalwood. Launched in 1990, an old commercial for the fragrance featured Cindy Crawford and several other top fashion models of the early 90s, and was set to the song “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole.
Undeniable by Billy Dee Williams by Avon is a oriental floral fragrance. Also launched in 1990, this fragrance had notes of sandalwood, lily, cloves and musk.
I am currently loving Nirvana Bourbon rollerball. The Elizabeth and James Nirvana fragrance collection (Bourbon, Black, Rose, and White) represents the ultimate state of happiness: an idyllic memory, feeling, moment, or experience. The notes in Bourbon, specifically, are vanilla bourbon, oakwood, and tuberose.
Daisy Eau So Fresh is the spirited version of the original Daisy. “It transports you to a place of happiness and sunshine, exuding a youthful spirit with a positively fresh and charmingly simple feeling. It’s bright, elegant, and full of charm. Playful with a whimsical spirit, it radiates with crisp raspberry, sensuous wild rose, and deep and warm plum. Sophisticated but not too serious, Daisy Eau So Fresh captures the vintage flavor of Marc Jacobs’ feminine, edgy designs.”
Midnight Fleur is an exotic wood, patchouli, and black amber are blended with sensual notes of night-blooming jasmine and vanilla orchid. “The combination of these notes is bold, irresistible, and purely sensual. Inspired by the works of 18th Century British artist Mrs. Mary Delany, Laura Slatkin collaborated with master perfumers to translate these works of art into luxurious fragrances that capture the essence of each of the botanicals that adorn the products’ striking packaging.”
Forever Diamonds is “a sophisticated, floral-fruity fragrance for the woman who embraces life and lets herself sparkle within it. Its top notes are sparkling golden peach, jasmine petals, and diamond orchid, while its middle notes are tuberose absolute, heliotrope, and apricot with a hint of creamy vanilla bean and white amber.”
Love’s Baby Soft is “a gentle, powdery and light fragrance, launched in 1974 with a provocative and controversial ad “Because innocent is sexier than you think”. It is described as clean, baby-smell, which is still sufficiently “mature” to be sexy. It contains notes of geranium, jasmine, rose, lavender, patchouli, vanilla and musk, among others.”
What are your favorite perfume scents? Is there one fragrance that you can’t live without? What is your scent story?
Yours Truly,
Vanessa
