Just Put on Your Red Shoes and Dance the Blues

If there were ever one famous rocker from my childhood whose music drew me in like a moth to a flame, it was David Bowie. He made me want to put on my red shoes {even though I didn’t have any red shoes} and “dance the blues.” A year ago yesterday, this iconic singer, songwriter, and actor passed away. It was a shock to millions of people, myself included, but his music will live on in the hearts of all of us.

“Let’s Dance” and “Little China Girl” were so memorable for me. His androgynous look, his unique voice, his British accent… And his music…  His music was and will always be great! I also remember him from the movie Labyrinth. If you haven’t see that movie, then you need to rent it immediately.

David Bowie has been a staple in the music industry for over 50 decades. He remained musically active until he died of liver cancer on January 11, 2016. He was one of the greatest icons of our time. Here’s my tribute to a fellow Capricorn… David Bowie (1/8/1947-1/11/2016).

It is said that David Bowie didn’t fear death, and that he turned to spirituality about 18 months before his death. It is also said that his last wish was to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in Bali.

I leave you with a wonderful quote, attributed to David Bowie.

Music producer Tony Visconti said of David Bowie: “We are fortunate to have lived in the same time as him.”

In the year since David Bowie passed away, his beautiful wife, Iman, has had to deal with not only the loss of the love of her life, but of her mother who passed away in April 2016. She has paid tribute to David Bowie on her Instagram (@the_real_iman), and you could tell that they were truly in love. Their unconditional, undying love for each other was an inspiration.
