As the first day of 2017 came to a close, I kicked my feet up at the end of the evening reflecting on all I had accomplished on the first day of the new year. It was a little rainy, but I was thankful for this new day! I wrote a couple of blog posts, washed and dried a couple of loads of laundry, washed the dishes, and organized my husband’s dresser using the KonMari Method.
I thought about the last sentence I wrote in yesterday’s blog post — “12 new chapters, 365 new chances!” How true! I, for one, am excited to experience new things, go on new adventures, and meet new people! It’s going to be FIERCE!
A couple of years ago, I wrote a blog post about making New Year’s Resolutions. And a couple of weeks ago, I wrote about how I plan to make 2017 my year. Now, don’t get me wrong… 2016 was a great year! I worked hard, met some really great women at the BlogHer #16 conference, and traveled to some cool places {Los Angeles by myself for the conference, and then to Daytona Beach with my husband for Thanksgiving}.
Some of my highlights from 2016 — (1) I celebrated one year of surgical menopause {I had major surgery in June 2015}; (2) my husband and I finally bought the house that we have lived in for almost 14 years; and (3) I now own my very own Vespa! I also created a few new monthly series — Links I Love, Woman of Style, Man of Style, and Wunderlust Wednesday.
I first started my blog back in 2012, using it to feature outfits on my antique dress form. Now four years later, my blog is still small but it is definitely growing! After attending the BlogHer conference, I joined a few blogger groups on Facebook and connected with several other bloggers {some from as far away as Australia, Ireland, and South Africa} through Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I also met a great young lady – Chloe Spencer – who took the time to help me figure some things out with my blog, specifically SEO tips. She is amazing!
The first part of my year wasn’t as exciting or jam-packed as the last half of the year. That being said, I’m planning to hit the ground running this new year!
What were your highlights in 2016? What will you be this year? Well, I’ve decided that this year I will be stronger, braver, kinder, and unstoppable. This year I will be FIERCE!
Yours Truly,
Vanessa

Last year was rough, but there were some highlights: getting a well deserved promotion (it’s difficult to move up in state government) and competing at a national level in roller derby.
This year, I am planning for adventure and fun. We will see where it takes me.
Roller Derby? That’s amazing! I’m not coordinated enough to be a roller derby queen! Congrats on the promotion! May 2017 bring you lots of adventure and fun!
