I’m at a time in my life where I want to accomplish certain goals every day of my life. I want to succeed in everything I do. I want to set myself up for success.
But in order to do that, I must develop a game plan for myself. They say that it takes 21 days of doing something repeatedly before it becomes a habit. You don’t have to have 100 goals on your to-do list. Start small by writing down three goals that you want to accomplish in 21 days. Then reward yourself when you accomplish them in that timeframe.

- Establish a routine and schedule your time.
Some people thrive by having a routine and scheduling their time. You don’t have to have a daily planner or a bullet journal to do this. There are apps that you can download onto your phone that will help you establish a routine and schedule your time. You may not want to write things down, but it’s important to your routine. If it’s important to you, then write it down and put it on your schedule. - Keep your daily to-do list small.
I write a small to-do list almost every day near the end of my work day to remind myself of what I need to accomplish the next day at work. I also write myself a to-do list of things I want to accomplish on the weekends. I sometimes keep this list on my phone or I use a colored sticky note and put it by my computer or on the bar where I keep my purse. Small lists are not as overwhelming as long lists. Small lists feel like the items on my to-do list are more easily accomplishable. - Limit work sessions to 60 minutes.
Your average workday is 8 hours long, but you need to break your day into 60 minute sessions with a short five minute break to grab a snack or a glass of water or go to the bathroom (or as I like to say, “have tea with the Queen”). If you sit at a computer all day long, then that five minute break is perfect for a quick stretch for not only your body but for your eyes. You may find yourself to be more productive overall by limiting your work sessions to 60 minutes. - Complete three daily goals.
These goals can be added to your to-do list. Your to-do list is different from your daily goals. For instance, your to-do list could be to pick up your dry cleaning, get a birthday card for grandma, and write a post for your blog. But your daily goals could be to drink eight glasses of water, walk 10,000 steps, and save the $1.75 you would normally spend on a bottle of soda from the vending machine and put it in your vacation fund. If you saved $1.75 a day for 365 days, you will have saved over $630. That’s a nice addition to your vacation fund! - Keep a gratitude journal.
“A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.” Being grateful, I believe, makes you a better person. Writing down what you are grateful for in a gratitude journal will allow you to go back and read those positive words when you are feeling down. “Gratitude will shift you to a higher frequency, and you will attract much better things.” You can rewire your brain to be happy by simply recalling three things you’re grateful for every day for 21 days. Make that decision to be happy and write it down in a journal. - Go to bed early and wake at the same time every day.
This goes along with establishing a routine and scheduling your time. For instance, I get up at 6:20 a.m. and go to be by 10:30 pm, during the work week. My weekend schedule (Friday and Saturday night) is a little more flexible, but I’m right back on track on Sunday evening. Knowing when you’re getting up and when you’re going to bed may actually help you accomplish your goals and check off the things on your to-do list.
Establishing daily habits for success can and writing them down will help you stay focused on what you want out of life. What are your habits for success?
Yours Truly,
Vanessa

I’ve started going to bed a little earlier and more consistently and I’ve definitely noticed an improvement over my ability to get a few more To-Do items done during the day! Thank you for sharing your tips 🙂
