I’m at that time in my life where I think I should stop wearing certain things because I’m in my early 40s. No more shorts. No more short skirts or short dresses. No fitted clothing. No leggings. But I think that we, as women, are too hard on ourselves and especially too hard on other women for their choice of clothing.
So here’s my suggestions on how to break the fashion rules, especially for this summer.
1. Show off those gams! If you got ’em, flaunt ’em, am I right? My husband is constantly telling me I have beautiful legs, and when I treat them to some self-tanner and bronzer, they are nice legs. Dame Helen Mirren has nice legs, and she even wears a bikini!
Which brings me to my next point…
2. You can wear a bikini. I’m more of a closet bikini wearer myself, but I’m working out, trying to get in shape, and trying to whittle down my muffin top so I feel comfortable baring my body in a bikini. If you’re somewhat curvy, like myself, try on bikinis with a 50’s cut or embellishments, or pick one in earth tones or a great navy color. You could also wear a sarong to hide the bits that you are not so fond of, or you could just embrace your body, wobbly bits and all!
3. Don’t have time to either get a pedicure or give yourself a pedicure? Then skip it and opt for ballet flats. I’m really loving the lace-up ballet flats and espadrilles right now!
4. Shorts can work for everyone. Again, you’ll just have to try on dozens of styles in order to find the style the suits you best. I don’t like how shorts can ride up in the crotch, especially after walking in them all day. However, they are great for a date nite with your husband or boyfriend, or a girls’ night out.
5. Breton tops are a must-have in your wardrobe. If you don’t know what a Breton top is, it’s the signature horizontal navy and white striped shirt that adds a bit of chic style to your wardrobe. You can get them in any color, but navy and white is classic.
6. Florals don’t have to look matronly. Try pairing a midi length and with a plain shirt or t-shirt, and BAM! You’re wearing florals!
So try one or all of these tips when you’re trying to figure out what to wear this summer and how to wear it!

Since last year I’m having unknown issues with ballets, my nails hurts whenever I wear them so I’m totally on sandals now😒 And yes I’m looking forward to add floral skirt in my closet for summer!
