Wanderlust: Popular Thanksgiving Destinations

A couple of years ago, my husband and I left behind the cold weather of East Tennessee and headed west to warmer weather. We spent Thanksgiving in Las Vegas, Nevada. We had a blast walking around the different casinos, seeing the sights, and eating some great food. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and it was fabulous.

So what destinations are popular for Thanksgiving? It depends. You can head somewhere cold and snowy, and enjoy some skiing during the day and drink hot cocoa by the fire at nights. Or you can head somewhere warm, leave behind the cold weather and come back home with a renewed spirit and a nice tan.

You can stay stateside and take a mini-vacation to New York City and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, take a Caribbean cruise and lounge on one of a dozens warm beaches, or venture overseas to Europe for a more luxurious vacation.

According to Fodor’s, Germany, Brussells, Spain, Italy, and Portugal are popular destinations, as is Iceland and Vancouver  (Canada).

I know Thanksgiving is tomorrow and travel arrangements have already been made, and most people are already either on the road or already at their destination, but just think about this… where you could go for Thanksgiving next year?

I’ve already blogged about Hawaii, Iceland, and Italy. I’m actually thinking about what I can plan for my 20th wedding anniversary. Considering that travelling to certain destinations is sometimes less expensive in November than in October (when my actually wedding anniversary is),  I’m considering a Thanksgiving wedding anniversary trip.

So where are you spending your Thanksgiving?  Did you travel somewhere cold or somewhere warm? Did you travel with family or friends? Where is your ultimate Thanksgiving travel destination? I would love to hear about your Thanksgiving plans, so just leave your comments below!

Have a great Thanksgiving, wherever you spend it!
