“I don’t think I ever felt beautiful until I was pregnant and when I gave birth to my children. I had terrible acne when I was a teenager and I was very tall, so tall I couldn’t see myself in my mother’s long mirror.” – Vanessa Redgrave

My mom once told me that she named me after Vanessa Redgrave, because that was her favorite actress around at the time I was born and that she just liked that name. Lucky me, in that the legendary and talented actress and I were both born in the month of January.
Vanessa was born in Greenwich, London, to Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, both thespians. This acclaimed actress that has won (among many others) an Academy Award, two Emmys, two Golden Globes, two Cannes Best Actress awards, a Tony, a Screen Actors Guild award, a Laurence Olivier theatre award and a BAFTA fellowship. My favorite movie of hers is Letters to Juliet.

She was exquisitely charming in this movie, which co-starred Amanda Seyfried, Christopher Egan, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Franco Nero (her real-lief husband).

Vanessa has worked with all three of her children professionally on numerous occasions (her eldest daughter, Natasha Richardson tragically died at the age of 45 due to a skiing accident) and in her mid 70s she still works regularly on television, film and theatre, delivering time and time again great performances. She was awarded the C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 1967 for her services to drama. She allegedly refused the British honour of Dame of the order of the British Empire in 1999. (Source: IMDb)
Vanessa was married to Tony Richardson from 1962 until 1967. She had a couple of long-term relationships, and in 2006 married Frano Nero, with whom she starred with in Letters to Juliet.
She has 130 acting credits to her name, including Mission: Impossible, Foxcatcher, Girl, Interrupted, and the TV show, Nip/Tuck.
Vanessa Redgrave is poised and elegant. If I had a dinner party and could invite one celebrity, it would probably be this lovely lady. She is politically vocal and stands by her beliefs.
Have a great day!
