Tonight is Amy Schumer’s comedy special on HBO, which was directed by Chris Rock. My husband has loved her for several years, but I just discovered her within the past year. Today is also my 17th wedding anniversary, so I feel like Amy Schumer is giving this comedy special to us as an anniversary gift! She is so thoughtful!

She is funny, honest, and she can poke fun at herself in a way that makes her relatable on so many levels. She is a caring person. When she was nine, her father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She has taken her father’s diagnosis in strides, and has created humor out of the situation.

She is breaking the mold of what comedienne’s can or cannot say, what a leading woman in a TV show or movie should look like or how she should act.
If you’ve seen her TV show, Inside Amy Schumer, you’ll know she is a bit blunt, but her honesty is refreshing. Male comedians have been able to say and do things on stage and not apologize for their actions, so I think it’s awesome how Amy Schumer doesn’t apologize for what she says or how she acts on stage, in her TV show, or on the big screen. As her quote above says, “you will not determine my story – I will.”
