In August, I shared 25 random fact about myself. If you missed the first installment, you can check it out here. I had such a good time with that blog post that I thought I’d share 25 more random facts about myself. So here they are…
1. I have started several screenplays, but have only finished one.
2. I am a Facebook friend with Derek Hass, one half of the dynamic duo who developed the NBC hits Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.
3. I really only joined Twitter to promote my blog (@vannadee37). I rarely peruse Twitter, but I appreciate every one of my followers who think I’m cool enough to follow. I have more followers on Twitter than I do Instagram. So here’s a little shamless self-promotion… you can follow me on Twitter @vannadee37 and on Instagram @vanessa_h_wood. You can also follow my blog, if you like!
4. I consider myself good at my job, meaning that I have the ability to anticipate the work needs of my boss. I enjoy my job as a Registered Medical Assistant. I have often thought about going back to school to be a surgery tech or something along those lines, but I like my current job too much.
5. I currently own a VW Passat, and the only reason I wanted a VW is because my initials are V.W. The VW was a post-surgical gift from my husband. Ain’t he sweet?
6. I often think about retiring to another country where there is a friendly ex-pat community.
7. I often think about writing the next great American novel, but I don’t think I have the patience to fully develop characters or a story. I guess I’ll stick to short stories and screenplays.
8. I am childless by choice. I am selfish with my time, as well as my husband’s time and attention. But we enjoy spoiling each other, our furbabies, as well as our three beautiful nieces, Kyra, Kalista and Kami.
9. I hate going to the dentist. It all stems from the fact that I had to have eight teeth (some baby, some permanent) pulled to get my teeth ready for braces. Yikes!
10. I never had a boyfriend in high school. Oh, there were plenty of guys that I liked, but I was shy when it came to telling a guy I liked him.
11. I get allergy shots once a week because my allergies are just that bad. I am allergic to grass, trees, pollen, dustmites, cockroaches, cats… but thankfully not dogs!
12. One of my English teachers in high school said that I would never make it as a writer. So after I started working as a newspaper reporter, I went back to Biloxi for vacation, which also just so happened to be Homecoming weekend, and when I saw that teacher, I went up to her to see how she was doing. When she asked me what I was doing, I told her that I was a writer/reporter for a newspaper. She seemed impressed!
13. I love magazines. I probably have more than 30 magazines currently sitting in a pile waiting for me to go through a second or third time. I literally read them from front to back the first time. Then I go back through and rip out pages of things I want to keep on file for future reference (i.e. clothes, recipes, celebrity interviews, and DIY ideas).
14. I zone out pretty easily, and fairly often. So if you’re talking to me and I’m not responding, please shake my shoulder, snap your fingers in front of my face, or say “Earth to Vanessa…”
15. Several years ago, I dreamed that I helped plan Nicole Kidman’s wedding to Keith Urban. And now they live in the Nashville area, which is just a couple of hours away from me!!!
16. My first official concert was Kenny Chesney. I went with my cousin, Dallas. The pre-show featured Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, and Cowboy Troy. Even Uncle Kracker and Keith Urban made special appearances during Kenny’s concert.
17. I have watched reality shows from time to time, but I have not watched them season after season. For example, I watched Survivor: Outback, Big Brother 7: All-Stars, a couple of seasons of Project Runway (but not back-to-back seasons), America’s Next Top Model (again, not back-to-back seasons), American Idol (the first season only), and The People’s Couch. And yes, I have watched the occasional episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
18. I read and follow several fashion and beauty blogs. So whenever a blogger posts about a new hair styling product or a new tinted moisturizer, or about a new beauty trick or tool, I instantly want to try it out! For instance, when I read on Samantha Busch’s blog about “dermaplaning” (a.k.a. shaving your face), and all the benefits of it, I decided I had to try it. I have now “shaved my face” twice!
19. I love Diet Coke, but ever since my hysterectomy, I have kind of lost the taste for it. Water is now my go-to drink of choice. Prior to surgery, I would joke with my co-workers that I would have an IV of Diet Coke if I could. I literally would drink over 100 oz. of Diet Coke a day. Now that was an addiction! In fact, I plan to kick that addiction to the curb soon!
20. I try to live my life without regrets, but I do have just a few regrets. My biggest regret to date would be not participating in a study abroad program while I was in college.
21. I hate seafood, except that I love canned tuna. I can make a super tasty tuna salad. I also love plain tuna on a spring salad with either Thousand Island or French dressing. Yummy! Photo Source: Pinterest
22. I could eat an entire bag of Reese’s peanut butter cups all by myself in one sitting. No judging, people… they are super tasty!
23. I love certain smells… like I love the smell of the ocean. I love the smell of the air after a cool rain shower. I love the smell of my husband’s head after he shaves it (thank you to The Art of Shaving for such wonderful scents). I love puppy breath. And I love the smell of my dog’s paws (they smell like corn chips).
24. I have two tattoos and my belly button is pierced. I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was about 22, and I had my nose pierced at one time. I had to take my nose ring out because of my job, but I would have my nose pierced again if my job allowed.
25. I do not know any foreign languages, even though I took one year of Spanish in high school and two years of Spanish in college.
There may be more installments of “Random Facts about Me”, so stay tuned!
Have a great day!
