Every summer, that feeling of wanderlust hits me so strong that I spend hours looking at travel sites dreaming of where I’d love to be at that exact moment in time.

My mind wanders and I wish that I could (1) have my summers off like I did when I was young and in school, (2) travel the world, spending time in fabulous locations, and (3) afford to actually travel to these locations.
So I decided to put together my wish list, or my “bucket list”, of exotic, beautiful, and faraway places that I’d love to see… kind of like my own version of Eat Pray Love.
First up is France. There are others who have blogged about France and Paris, in particular. Duchess of Plumwood posted a blog about “Paris in a Weekend” and what to see in a weekend.
And Hopeful Wandering put together a “Top 10” list for things to see and places to eat while in Paris.
Here are some sites on my France “bucket list”:
(1) The Louvre – Photo Source: 500px.com
I would see artwork from Van Gogh and Monet, and I would return a smile to the Mona Lisa. I would also gaze upon sculptures, such as the Venus de Milo.
(2) Eiffel Tower – Photo Source: www.frenchriviera.com
I want to see the views of Paris from the Eiffel Tower and proudly say that I climbed all 704 steps to gaze upon the splendor that is Paris!
(3) Notre Dame – Photo Source: Tom Szukalski
I want to see this historic Catholic cathedral, and its organ and bells. The organ has 7,374 pipes, 110 real stops, five 56-key manuals, and a 32-key pedalboard. The bells make me think of the Disney classic, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. There are 10 bells, and the largest is called Emmanuel.
(4) Chateau de Chambord – Photo Source: Pinterest
This is the largest chateau in Loire Valley, and was never completed, but it is still on my too-see list.
(5) Palace of Versailles and its gardens – Photo Source: Telegraph and Flickr
Most people may think of this place as the location where Kimye celebrated their impending nuptials, but I think of how Karl Lagerfeld used the backdrop of this beautiful location to showcase Chanel’s 2013 Resort line.
(6) Côte d’Azur – Photo Source: Trip Advisor
Known in English as the French Riviera, the coastline features such beautiful and famous locations such as Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Nice, and Monaco (Monte Carlo).
Traveling by train would be simply amazing and an adventure in itself, and would be something that I think I would not only enjoy doing, but feels like it would take a load off my shoulders (no car rentals, no wrong turns, no car accidents). This map from BuzzFeed highlights a great train travel map.
So whenever I either hit the lottery or am contacted by a magazine to be a travel writer, then I will have to stick to dreaming of visiting such wonderful, new places.
Until then, may the wanderlust in your heart never go away!
