“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person… He believed in me.” – Jim Valvano
I’m more like my father than I realize. I have the same green eyes, the same “selective hearing”, and the same non-confrontational, passive personality. I guess I really “daddy’s little girl.” He, along with my mom, instilled in me the idea that I could do anything… they believed in me. They let me dream!

Although I’m not actually doing and getting paid for the one thing I’d love to do as a career, I’m still doing what I love, which is writing. They both believed in me and still, to this day, encourage me. I still am their little girl, at the tender age of 41!
So in honor of Father’s Day, I thought I’d put together some stuff about fathers.
During our lifetime, we have all see a television family and enjoyed watching the interactions between the dad’s and their children, such as: Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show; Tim Taylor on Home Improvement; Michael Kyle on My Wife and Kids; Phillip Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air; Bernie Mac on The Bernie Mac Show; Al Bundy on Married with Children; and Murray Goldberg on The Goldbergs/.
Here are some other great TV fathers.

I’ve seen tattoos where people have tattooed their father’s hand on their shoulder or a certain phrase their dad always said, but I also like this necklace with the phrase “Love, Dad” etched onto a charm. It is sweet and something that can be passed down.

Whether you have a dad, a step-dad, a grandfather, an adopted dad, or someone who has been like a father to you, take time to celebrate them this coming weekend. Take him out to breakfast/lunch/dinner. Buy him a card, or better yet, make him a one-of-a-kind card. Hug him, spend time with him, and tell him that you love him.
