It’s been 20 years since I’ve had a true summer vacation. No longer can I sleep in every day, lay out by the pool for hours, or hang out with my friends doing nothing at all. Ah…. Those were the days!
There are times now that I wish I could just go back to those carefree days, where there were no cell phones and no wifi or internet, and no constant contact with the outside world… where I could just tell a few people where I would be, how long I would be there, and when I was planning to be back.
This lovely quote about “putting your phone away for a few days” and “make some memories that no one knows about” is totally doable and something that I think we all should try at least one weekend a month, if not more.
If you could put your phone away for an entire weekend – no incoming or outgoing calls, no internet connection, nothing – what would you do?
I have gone almost an entire day not looking at my phone, not checking my email or checking the internet for news updates, not playing games on my iPad or my cell phone… I just left my phone and iPad plugged into their chargers. I just watched movie after movie on HBO; I cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for my husband; I made some homemade granola trail mix; and I did all of the laundry. It was totally relaxing.
So again I ask you, what memories would you make – memories that are just yours and yours alone – if you put your phone away for a few days?
