My family watched as my grandfather descended into dementia and Alzheimer’s. He passed away in April 2009, just before Easter. He was 89. Now his wife, my grandmother, is slowly spiraling down the same path as he did. She is 89 now, and is suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s, experiencing the same hallucinations and paranoia as he did. Now, my husband’s grandmother, whom we have lived with for over 10 years, is in the early stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
