One of my favorite things is reading and re-reading magazines and then pulling pages of interest out of the magazine to re-read a third time. But all those loose magazine pages can get lost or torn, so I decided I need a way to smash all of those pages together!
Remember the “Slam Book” in Mean Girls? It’s the book that the “mean girls” plastered photos in, and wrote mean and cruel things about their peers and the teachers.
Well, my “smashing” idea is not so much of a “slam book” but a “smash book”. It is a smash of all the things and ideas you like, love, enjoy, etc. I was browsing through Pinterest the other night and stumbled upon a YouTube video about creating a “Smash Book”.
First, watch the video… pretty cool, right?
After watching the video, I decided that creating my own smash book(s) would be a “smashing idea”! Then I realized, I had already started creating a smash book several years ago.
(These are a couple of pages from my smash book!)
Smash books are a little like scrapbooks, so scrapbookers will really enjoy this project. In between pages that contain photos or magazine clippings, you can use some of these journaling ideas to help personalize your smash book.

I have a large stack of magazine pages and clippings sitting on our coffee table and I am now in full “smash book” mode, separating each page into themes – fashion, fitness, beauty, recipes, travel, home decor, etc. I’ll probably end up with several books, but that’s okay. It will give me something to look at when traveling, or whenever the mood strikes me, or when I need/want to be inspired!
Have you ever made a smash book? What kinds of things would you put in your smash book? I’d love to hear from you!
