With nothing much to watch on TV tonight, I decided to watch Giuliana & Bill on The Style Network.
Giuliana & Bill is a reality show featuring E! News host, and host of Fashion Police Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill Rancic, an entrepreneur who won the first season of The Apprentice. The couple, who first met when Giuliana was interviewing Bill for E! News, were married on September 1, 2007. (Source: Wikipedia)
I watched the 19th episode of season five, “Meet The Duke!” It’s about the birth of their son, Edward Duke Rancic, who was born on Aug. 29, 2012. They had a surrogate, Delphine, who graciously carried baby Duke for them because Giuliana could not carry him.
Their reality show has followed Giuliana and Bill through heartbreak and joy.
According to The Hollywood Life, “the couple, who tried to conceive for years and suffered several failed IVF treatments, had to put their baby plans on delay when Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Thankfully, the 37-year-old’s double mastectomy proved successful, and a cancer-free Giuliana and hubby Bill welcomed their first child via a surrogate on Aug. 29 — baby Duke! ” (Read More at Hollywood Life by Bonnie Fuller.)
My husband and I don’t have children, but we’ve got nieces (three of them) and several cousins with children. I was actually in the delivery room when two of my three nieces were born. I was taking care of the oldest when my second niece was born. My husband was so sweet that he ran out and got us some dinner while we waited.
The tears and joy that Bill and Giuliana shared were genuine and so heartfelt that I found myself tearing up because their excitement was so contagious.
I remembered watching back-to-back episodes earlier this summer of Giuliana’s battle with IVF and then watching as she was told she had breast cancer. My heart went out to her and Bill. Their love and support of each other is a wonderful to watch!
So on this day, the day before the day before Thanksgiving, I’d like to first say “Thank you” to Bill and Giuliana for sharing such a special moment in their lives with viewers like me. And secondly, I’d like to ask God to bless their family this holiday season. May He bless them with more joy and love than their hearts can contain. And may God bless Delphine and her family, for her (and their) selflessness and sacrifice to bring baby Duke into the world and into the lives of Bill and Giuliana and their families.
If you haven’t watched their reality show, it’s worth taking time to watch it “on demand” because their romance and relationship is genuine and real.
Have a great day!
