My husband and I went to a VW car show in Sevierville this morning and it was a chilly, overcast day. He was loving the cooler weather while I was dressed in layers!
I love seeing the leaves change colors and fall to the earth. I also love the smells of Autumn, like hot apple cider, cinnamon raisin oatmeal cookies, and pumpkin pie. I also love the comfy sweaters, the colorful scarfs, and the stylish boots that accompany this cooler season.
October, which is my husband’s favorite month, is a special month for us because my husband and I got married 14 years ago this month!
So in honor of the changing seasons and the awesome Autumn month of October, I thought I’d post some Autumn pins (all from Pinterest, of course)!
Where could you wear your fall fashions? Perhaps you could gather a few friends for a picnic, or take your family for a drive through the country to see all the different colors of the leaves…
After enjoying your outdoor picnic or that drive through the country, why not head home and enjoy some warm drinks…
Ingredients:
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons whole allspice
4 sticks cinnamon (3 inch)1 bottle (48 oz) apple cider (6 cups)
1 bottle (48 oz) cranberry juice cocktail (6 cups)
Now that I’ve covered fashion, locations, and drinks, here’s a couple of stylish ideas on how to decorate your abode for fall…
You could probably do this on a smaller scale. You could use some glass Mason jars (in different sizes) and fill the bottom (at least two inches) with unpopped popcorn kernels. Then I’d take take some scented candles in autumn colors (like burgundy or burnt orange) and nestle them into the kernels. In the picture below, they placed a candle holder inside the glass and filled the glass with kernels. Then they placed the candles on the holders. Either idea, I think, would be fine. But if you don’t use a candle holder, you may want to extinguish the flame before it reaches the kernels and you end up with popcorn!
Also, you don’t necessarily need to wrap the candles in leaves and twine, but I think it would give it that extra special touch.
“You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person died for no reason.” -Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast (www.goodreads.com)
Who else loves Autumn? What is your favorite part of the fall season? Football? Cooler weather? Warmer fashions? Wonderful holiday meals? Halloween? Hot toddies? I’d love to hear from you!
