“Let’s face it, we were all once 3-year-olds who stood in the middle of the living room and everybody thought we were so adorable. Only some of us grow up and get paid for it.” – Meryl Streep
Ms. Streep is by far one of the most talented and versatile actresses of our time, having appeared in such great dramas as Out of Africa (1985), The Bridges of Madison County (1995), Doubt (2009), and The Iron Lady (2012).
Her comedic talents shown through in such movies as Death Becomes Her (1992) and It’s Complicated (2009), and she has lent her voice to several movies, including Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) and The Ant Bully (2006).
And who remembers that kiss with Sandra Bullock?
Whether the role called for an accent, for drama, for comedy, for singing – Ms. Streep takes on a role and gives it that something special that no other actress could give it. I mean, could you imagine anyone else playing Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada? No, I don’t think so.
She has played such iconic women, including Julia Child, Karen Silkwood, and Margaret Thatcher.
My first “meeting” with Ms. Streep came when I watched Out of Africa, in which she played Karen, a Danish baroness and plantation owner who “has a passionate but ultimately doomed love affair with a free-spirited big game hunter” in 20th century colonial Kenya. (quote credit: www.IMDb.com)
She has a classic beauty which she credits her daughters with helping her to stop worrying about her appearance.
Ms. Streep is aging gracefully, and beautifully!
“My daughters had helped me to stop worrying about my appearance over the years. I wasted so many years thinking I wasn’t pretty enough and why didn’t I have Jessica Lange’s body or someone else’s legs? What a waste of time.” (Meryl Streep made this statement back in February 2009 about her appearance.)
Ms. Streep has been nominated seventeen times for an Academy Award, having won only three times: 2012 for The Iron Lady; 1983 for Sophie’s Choice; and 1980 for Kramer vs. Kramer. In 2009, she won the Screen Actor’s Guild Award for her portrayal of Sister Aloysius Beauvier in Doubt.
In 1998, she was awarded a Star on the Walk of Fame, which is located at 7020 Hollywood Blvd.
There are so many wonderful things that I love about Ms. Streep. In my opinion, she is simply one of the best, if not the best!

I agree. She has an uncanny ability to believably become anyone. I was particularly impressed with her Juilia Child, who I remember watching on cooking channels growing up. It wasn’t so much watching Streep play Julia Child; it was watching Julia Child again. She hit it so perfectly.
I agree that Streep played Julia Child perfectly. A few months ago, I watched a Martha Stewart show where Julie Child was her guest. It was pretty cool. Thanks for your comment and thanks again for liking my post!
