I occasionally enjoy bird-watching. We live out in the country where beautiful birds can be seen and heard chirping beautiful songs. I’m not an avid bird-watcher like Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson were in The Big Year, in which these three gentlemen compete in a year-long bird-spotting competition.
But then there are those times when I feel the need to pop a pellet in a bird’s tail feathers, like Zooey Dechanel did in Failure to Launch. If you don’t remember that scene, rent the movie! It may not have been a blockbuster movie, but it’s got Matthew McConaughy and Bradley Cooper in it!
Anyway… my husband and I have been battling with an amorous cardinal for the past couple of weeks. This cardinal has discovered the mirrors on both my Mazda and his Ford truck.
And my solution was this…
I don’t know how long we’ll have to guard our mirrors, but in the meantime it keeps our mirrors clean and the bird poop off the side of our doors!
Happy bird-watching!

I don’t ever think I’ve read about birds that poop while trying to woo a mate; its probably aggression towards a perceived threat to territory. Although how he discovered your mirrors is very curious. I like your solution. I find it fun to observe birds. Just recently I observed two robins keeping cool in our sprinklers. We had nearly a week of above 75 degree weather last week that need on Saturday. It was 80 here and made those of us who enjoy the cooler weather, hot and a little uncomfortable.
